After a shaky start, former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha “Cupcake” Tate put forth another impressive comeback performance en route to a hard-fought victory tonight at UFC 183: “Silva vs Diaz” in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tate edged out Olympic silver medallist Sara McMann.
The opening round of tonight’s featured matchup did not go as planned for Tate, who was dropped early on and dominated on the ground. She came on strong in the late stages of round two and controlled the final five minutes on the mat to earn a competitive and entertaining Majority Decision victory.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada tonight for UFC 183: “Silva vs Diaz.” The card was headlined by a middleweight bout between former long-time UFC champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva and one-time Strikeforce titleholder Nick Diaz.

Hard-hitting Brazilian contender Amanda “Lioness” Nunes looks to rebound from a tough loss in September when she returns to the cage at UFC Fight Night 62: “Faber vs Assuncao” on March 21st in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Nunes battles grappling ace Shayna “The Queen of Spades” Baszler.
UFC officials announced the featured bantamweight bout late on Thursday night. Nunes began her UFC career with back-to-back first-round stoppage victories before falling to “Alpha” Cat Zingano at UFC 178. TUF 18’s Baszler dropped her official UFC debut to Bethe “Pitbull” Correia at UFC 177.

Sub-Zero MMA first Tweeted news of the fight this afternoon. De Randamie has not fought since November 2013 when she was stopped by Amanda “Lioness” Nunes. Pacheco suffered her first professional defeat in her UFC debut against Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade at UFC Fight Night 51.

TUF 18 winner Julianna “The Venezuelan Vixen” Peña is set to make her long-awaited return to the Octagon on April 4th at UFC Fight Night 63: “Mendes vs Lamas” in Fairfax, Virginia. Peña takes on Russian standout Milana Dudieva in a featured bantamweight matchup on the card.
ESPN first reported on the bout earlier today. Peña has been sidelined for more than a year after suffering the third serious knee injury of her career. She became the first female winner of The Ultimate Fighter in November 2013. Dudieva won her August UFC debut by defeating Elizabeth Phillips.

WPMF Japan Women’s Pinweight Champion Saya Ito makes the first defence of her title on April 5th at Muaylok: “The Battle of Muay Thai 7” in Tokyo, Japan. The 16-year-old “Muay Thai Genius” is set to face J-Girls Pinweight Champion Chihiro Kira in a five-round bout on the card.
Officials announced the championship fight this past week. Ito avenged a past loss and captured the WPMF title in September when she edged out Haru “Taj Mahal” Tajima. She most recently defeated Kira’s sister, Yuuki, in December. Kira won a one-night J-Nexus tournament on December 20th.
