All four quarterfinal matchups have now been announced for the 2014 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup world tournament, which takes place on Saturday night at Yamano Hall in the Yoyogi district of Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Seven different countries will be represented in this year’s prestigious tournament.
Also confirmed for Saturday’s card is a non-tournament bout between former Shoot Boxing Japan Women’s Flyweight Champion Ai Takahashi and experienced Muay Thai champ Nong Em Tor. Vitaya. Takahashi and Tor. Vitaya will face off in a featured three-round bout on the event’s main card.

After visa issues delayed her UFC debut earlier this year, Milana Dudieva steps into the Octagon for the first time on August 23rd at UFC Fight Night 48: “Bisping vs Le” in Cotai, Macau. The Russian standout faces off against Elizabeth Phillips, who recently stepped in to replace Dudieva at UFC 174.
UFC officials confirmed the bantamweight mnatchup this past weekend. Dudieva was originally in talks to sign with the UFC more than a year ago, but an untimely loss to Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade put those plans on hold. Phillips dropped a close decision in her short-notice Octagon debut.

The eight-woman lineup for this year’s Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup is now complete. J-Girls Korea champion Jiwaen Lee and Brazil’s Eduarda “Duda” Lima are the final two participants in the tournament, which takes place on August 2nd at Yamano Hall in the Yoyogi district of Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.
Shoot Boxing officials announced the latest additions to the worldwide tournament today. Lee was set to face three-time Girls S-Cup winner Rena Kubota in December, but she withdrew from the bout on short notice. Lima makes her shoot boxing debut after an 18-fight amateur kickboxing career.

South Korean kickboxer Ga Yeon Song now has an opponent for her mixed martial arts debut on August 17th at Road Fighting Championship 17 in Seoul. The popular 19-year-old star is set to face off against Japan’s Emi Yamamoto in a featured 105-pound atomweight bout on next month’s card.
Road FC officials confirmed the matchup this past week. Song debuted for Road FC as a ring girl in 2013 and she has since gone on to become a television star in South Korea. She is now focused on becoming a legitimate atomweight contender and looks for her first MMA win against Yamamoto.

Polish standout Joanna Jędrzejczyk made a successful UFC strawweight debut with an impressive decision win tonight at UFC on FOX 12: “Lawler vs Brown” in San Jose, California. Jędrzejczyk outpointed fellow striker Juliana “Ju Thai” de Lima Carneiro in the UFC’s second 115-pound female fight.
Jędrzejczyk showcased her elite striking skills in her UFC debut tonight and she repeatedly scored with overhand rights that kept Lima on the defensive. Jędrzejczyk’s defence against Lima’s takedowns and submission attempts was also on point and she cruised to a well-deserved decision victory.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship came to the SAP Center in San Jose, California tonight for UFC on FOX 12: “Lawler vs Brown.” The event featured a much-anticipated five-round welterweight showdown between hard-hitting title contenders “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler and Matt “The Immortal” Brown.

Both semi-final matchups are now set for this year’s Shoot Boxing 48kg all-Japan Girls S-Cup tournament, which takes place on August 2nd at Yamano Hall in the Yoyogi district of Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. In a rematch, two-time JKS48 winner Mio Tsumura takes on J-Girls champion Momi.
Tsumura and Momi first met in February 2013 when Momi handed Tsumura the lone defeat of her career. In the second 48kg semi-final, MMA and shoot boxing veteran “V.V” Mei Yamaguchi faces highly-touted prospect Yukari Yamaguchi. The semi-final winners will then face off in the tournament final.
