Cris Cyborg vs Leslie Smith Announced For UFC 198 CardInvicta FC Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino makes her Octagon debut on May 14th at UFC 198: “Werdum vs Miocic” in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. Justino is set to face off against former Invicta FC flyweight title challenger Leslie “The Peacemaker” Smith at 140 pounds.

UFC officials announced the catchweight contest earlier today. Justino has campaigned for a spot on the UFC roster for many years, but her inability to make 135 pounds repeatedly scrapped plans for a fight against “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey. She now competes in her hometown against Smith in April.

Justino (15-1-0, 1 ND) has reigned supreme atop the women’s featherweight division for close to seven years, dating back to her Strikeforce title win over Gina “Conviction” Carano in August 2009. A positive steroid test left Justino on the sidelines throughout 2012, but she has since racked up five straight knockout victories for Invicta FC, where she holds the promotion’s 145-pound title. In her most recent championship defence, Justino destroyed Russian challenger Daria Ibragimova at Invicta FC 15 in January. She drops down to 140 pounds for the first time since 2008.

Smith (8-6-1) became one of the biggest stars on the Invicta FC roster while collecting Fight of the Night bonuses for her thrilling bouts. Following a controversial Split Decision loss to Sarah Kaufman at Invicta FC 5, Smith dropped down to 125 pounds and earned a flyweight title shot by defeating Jennifer Maia. Her Invicta FC title bid ended in a defeat to Barb “Little Warrior” Honchak, but Smith has since gone 2-2 in the UFC’s women’s bantamweight division. She most recently edged out Queen of Pancrase Rin Nakai in a closely-contested bout at UFC Fight Night 85 nine days ago.

UFC 198: “Werdum vs Miocic” is set to take place on May 14th at a venue to be determined in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. The event is headlined by a UFC Heavyweight Championship bout between Fabricio “Vai Cavalo” Werdum and Stipe Miocic.
