Joanna Jędrzejczyk Faces Juliana De Lima Carneiro At UFC On FOX 12The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s second women’s strawweight bout is set to take place on July 26th at UFC on FOX 12: “Lawler vs Brown” in San Jose, California. Unbeaten rising star Joanna Jędrzejczyk will make her Octagon debut against fellow striker Juliana “Ju Thai” de Lima Carneiro.

MMANews.pl first reported on the 115-pound matchup earlier this week. Jędrzejczyk is coming off of her biggest win to date this past month when she knocked out Rosi “The Surgeon” Sexton. Lima rebounded from her first defeat under the Invicta FC banner by stopping Liliani Trolezi in October.

Jędrzejczyk (6-0-0) is still young in her MMA career, but the 26-year-old Polish standout has already captured numerous world titles during her storied tenure in kickboxing that spans close to 100 fights. Competing primarily as a flyweight, Jędrzejczyk racked up four straight wins over formidable opponents after debuting in MMA two years ago. In May, she scored a big win by choking out Spanish prospect Karla Benitez in the first round, but her dominant and vicious knockout victory over Sexton this past month was the key to earning a contract with the UFC.

Lima (6-1-0) is also an experienced kickboxer who has faced skilled strikers at home in Brazil. She transitioned to MMA in late 2010 and won back-to-back fights. In her third bout, she picked up her biggest victory to date by outpointing highly-touted prospect Kinberly Tanaka Novaes. Lima won two more fights and brought an undefeated record into her April 2013 Invicta FC debut, but she came up short on the scorecards against Finland’s Katja “Killer Bunny” Kankaanpää. She bounced back with a 68-second TKO win in October and now looks to upset Jędrzejczyk later this month.

UFC on FOX 12: “Lawler vs Brown” takes place on July 26th at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. The event is headlined by a welterweight contender’s bout between “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler and Matt “The Immortal” Brown.
