Revelina Berto Returns To Face Stephanie Webber At RFC 28After close to four years away, Revelina “Nana” Berto will make her return to MMA competition on November 17th. The member of the famed Berto fighting family is scheduled to face Strikeforce veteran Stephanie Webber at Real Fighting Championships 28: “Legacy” in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Berto, sister to boxing champ Andre and fellow MMA fighter James Edson, is undefeated in her career and posted three wins in short succession before taking a lengthy hiatus from the sport. Webber is coming off of a submission victory in June and has yet to see round three in her professional career.

Berto (3-0-0) made her mixed martial arts debut for RFC just days before her 19th birthday in July 2008 and submitted Jessica Bednark with an impressive arm-triangle choke from guard. She returned to the promotion four months later and knocked out Stacy Grant in the third round. At RFC 16, Berto earned a Unanimous Decision victory over American Top Team prospect and future Bellator competitor Stefanie “Supergirl” Guimaraes in a Fight of the Night battle. She has not fought since the February 2009 bout with Guimaraes and now makes her return to MMA at a time when female fighters are receiving more opportunities thanks to the recent inception of Invicta Fighting Championships.

Webber (2-2-0) enjoyed a successful amateur career before making the jump to the professional ranks in late 2009. She suffered a submission setback in her pro debut, but rebounded with a submission win of her own in October 2010. The victory propelled Webber into a Strikeforce bout against Muay Thai sensation Germaine “The Iron Lady” de Randamie, but de Randamie’s striking skills proved to be too great and she stopped Webber with a knee late in the first round. After taking a lengthy hiatus herself, Webber stepped back into the cage in June and submitted Liz Carreiro with a keylock in the early stages of round two. She looks to make it two in a row against Berto.

Both fighters have shown strong finishing abilities in past bouts and each will be looking to pick up a big victory in the November showdown.

Real Fighting Championships 28: “Legacy” takes place on November 17th at the Charlotte Harbor Event Center in Punta Gorda, Florida.
