Claudia Gadelha To Face Raquel Pitbull At Shooto Brazil 34Decorated BJJ black belt Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha looks for her second mixed martial arts victory of 2012 when she faces off against Raquel “Pitbull” at Shooto Brazil 34 on September 21st in Brasilia, Brazil. The featured flyweight matchup was officially announced by the promotion today.

Gadelha was initially in talks to face long-time rival Carina “Beauty But The Beast” Damm on the card, but the planned bout was once again scrapped. Gadelha remains unbeaten in her MMA career and most recently earned a Split Decision victory in April. Pitbull won her MMA debut in late May.

Gadelha (8-0-0) is one of the most talented female grapplers in Brazil. The 23-year-old three-time BJJ world champion has submitted six of her eight MMA opponents to date and made a successful North American debut with her victory over Valérie “Trouble” Létourneau at Wreck MMA: “Road To Glory” in April. Returning from an injury that kept her on the sidelines for 19 months, Gadelha controlled the majority of the first two rounds against Létourneau en route to the Split Decision victory.

Pitbull (1-0-0) enters the bout with Gadelha on short notice and as a significant underdog, but she was impressive in her May debut. Competing as a late replacement, Pitbull dominated Leila “Fofinha” Barros with powerful punches and clinchwork in the lone women’s bout at Arena Fight 5.0. Pitbull must now contend with Gadelha’s slick submission skills and transitions, but she could upset the highly-touted prospect if she can keep the fight on the feet and make use of her striking power.

Shooto Brazil 34 takes place on September 21st at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil.
