Daniel “D-Rod” Rodriguez vs Tim “The Dirty Bird” Means

Round 1:
Means opened the fight with leg kicks and two punches that set up a takedown against the cage. Rodriguez stood back up and he countered a body kick with a leg kick. Means continued to press the action with more leg kicks and both men landed hard left hands. Means walked forward again and landed another flurry as Rodriguez countered with left hooks and uppercuts. He snapped Means’s head back with a jab and Means replied with a left hand to the liver. Rodriguez countered effectively late in the round and he dropped Means with a huge left hook just before the bell sounded. 10-9 Rodriguez due to the late-round rally.

Round 2:
Rodriguez landed hard one-twos and combinations early in the second round, but Means stayed on his feet and he landed a head kick in return. Rodriguez dropped Means briefly with an overhand left and he continued to score with more left hands in an ensuing exchange. Means followed up on a spinning backfist with a series of jabs, but Rodriguez hurt him with a left hand and a series of follow-up punches. A dazed Means dropped levels for a takedown, but Rodriguez trapped him in a standing power guillotine choke and Means quickly tapped out.

Winner: Daniel Rodriguez by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 3:37 of round two. He improves to 11-1-0.

 

John “The Magician” Dodson vs Nathaniel “The Prospect” Wood

Round 1:
Chopping leg kicks were exchanged early on and Dodson pressed forward with a quick flurry. Wood responded with one of his own and he kept the pressure on with kicks until Dodson lunged forward with a quick one-two. The fighters clinched and Dodson broke free with a short uppercut. Wood responded with another one-two and he chased after Dodson with right hands. Dodson clinched and the fighters battled for position against the cage. Wood tripped Dodson and landed punches as Dodson returned to his feet late in the round. 10-9 Wood.

Round 2:
Wood opened round two with a right hand and Dodson answered with two quick left crosses in return. Time was called after Dodson was kicked in the groin. Action resumed and Dodson landed a quick counter combination. He followed with more punches that briefly backed Wood up against the cage. Another timeout was called when after Dodson was once again kicked in the groin, but the fight continued and Dodson chased after Wood with lunging punches. Wood landed a straight right hand soon after and the fighters clinched. Dodson countered with an elbow and he reversed the clinch against the cage. The fighters were separated late in the round and time was called to check on a cut above Wood’s left eye. Action continued and Dodson landed more lunging punches that Wood answered with a combination before the bell. Close round. 10-9 Dodson.

Round 3:
Both men landed left hooks at the same time early in round three and Dodson, cut above the eye by Wood’s punch, dropped Wood. Dodson immediately dove in with more punches on the ground as a kneeling Wood covered up and the fight was waved off.

Winner: John Dodson by TKO (Punches) at 0:16 of round three. He improves to 21-10-0.

 

Scott “Hot Sauce” Holtzman vs Jim “A-10” Miller

Round 1:
Miller knocked Holtzman down with an early leg kick, but Holtzman quickly returned to his feet and the fighters traded more leg kicks. A left hook from Miller backed Holtzman up momentarily and he followed up with another left hand. Holtzman pressed forward and Miller countered with a knee-punch combo. He shot in for a takedown and Holtzman defended with a short right hand and an uppercut. The fighters separated and Miller continued to find success with straight left hands. Holtzman responded with a right cross and a grazing head kick. Miller scored with two hard left hooks in the final 30 seconds, but Holtzman stayed on his feet and avoided a Superman Punch. 10-9 Miller.

Round 2:
Holtzman fought through early leg kicks from Miller and clinched in the second round, but Miller defended against the cage and he was ultimately able to reverse position and take Holtzman down. Holtzman quickly stood up and landed jab-cross combos that were answered by a hard left hand from Miller. More punches were exchanged and Holtzman held Miller against the cage. He took Miller down and postured up with punches before moving to half-guard. Elbows and punches scored for Holtzman before the bell. 10-9 Holtzman.

Round 3:
Miller landed a nice left hand early in the final round, but Holtzman remained the aggressor and he landed two right hands before clinching against the cage. The fighters separated and Holtzman landed right hooks and uppercuts. He followed with more of them in close while pinning Miller against the fence. Miller eventually broke free and he landed two body kicks before attempting a head kick that was blocked. Holtzman landed short uppercuts and an elbow before Miller replied with a knee to the body. The fighters clinched and Holtzman landed one more uppercut. Both men fired off power punches late in the fight, with Holtzman landing two more right hands. Competitive round. 10-9 Holtzman.

Winner: Scott Holtzman by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 14-3-0.

 

Devin “Brown Bear” Clark vs Dequan “The Tarantula” Townsend

Round 1:
After an uneventful opening minute, Clark closed the distance and held Townsend against the fence. He landed knees to Townsend’s thighs and tried to take him down, but Townsend remained on his feet. The fighters were eventually separated and Clark immediately took Townsend down after the restart. He worked from the top in Townsend’s half-guard in the final minute and used short elbows to set up a move to mount. 10-9 Clark.

Round 2:
The fighters traded punches in round two until Townsend landed a hard combination 90 seconds in. Clark took him down and looked to set up a keylock from the top in side control. He let go of the hold and threw short elbows to Townsend’s forehead. Clark stayed on top as the fight entered the final minute and he continued to land short elbow strikes. Townsend fought off a straight armbar attempt and got back to half-guard, but he was unable to halt Clark’s offence before the bell. 10-9 Clark, if not a 10-8.

Round 3:
Townsend pressed the action early in the final round and he landed a handful of lunging punches before Clark took him down. Clark worked from the top with punches to the body and head throughout the ensuing three minutes. Late in the round, he postured up with some harder shots and maintained top position until the end of the fight. 10-9 Clark.

Winner: Devin Clark by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 11-4-0.

 

Merab “The Machine” Dvalishvili vs Casey Kenney

Round 1:
The fight began with an exchange of leg and body kicks and Dvalishvili followed with right hands. Kenney answered with a big right hook of his own and Dvalishvili tripped him momentarily. Kenney stood and just missed with a spinning backfist. He landed two lunging punches, but Dvalishvili dragged him down and landed right hands to the face as Kenney stood up against the cage. Dvalishvili picked Kenney up and slammed him down, then attacked with hammerfists to the face until Kenney stood up again. Both men landed punches and Kenney backed Dvalishvili up with a flurry that led to a clinch against the cage. Dvalishvili finished strong with knees to the body before the bell. 10-9 Dvalishvili.

Round 2:
Both men landed big punches in round two and Kenney halted Dvalishvili’s forward momentum twice with counter left hooks. Dvalishvili was unable to get Kenney down and Kenney landed counter right hooks. Dvalishvili finally got Kenney down and he quickly took his back. Kenney stood and Dvalishvili pulled him back down against the base of the cage. Dvalishvili kept the pressure on with knees to the legs and another takedown before the end of the round. 10-9 Dvalishvili.

Round 3:
Dvalishvili scored with a hard leg kick and a counter left hook that knocked Kenney off-balance early in round three. The fighters traded punches and Dvalishvili worked for a takedown, but Kenney reversed it. Back on the feet, Dvalishvili held Kenney against the fence and dragged him down to the mat two more times. A third takedown allowed Dvalishvili to secure back control and he landed punches to the sides of Kenney’s head until the final bell. 10-9 Dvalishvili.

Winner: Merab Dvalishvili by Unanimous Decision (30-25, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 10-4-0.

 

Macy Chiasson vs Shanna “The Shanimal” Young

Round 1:
Young opened the fight with side kicks to the face and the fighters traded heavy punches in a frenetic opening 30 seconds. Young landed more head kicks and Chiasson responded with knees to the body in a clinch. She followed with more of them and Young reversed a takedown attempt. The fight returned to the feet and Chiasson continued to score with knees. Young countered with elbows over the top, but she could not break free from the clinch and Chiasson punished her with knees to the body and head. After an exchange of punches, Chiasson landed a head kick and more knees before taking Young down. She took Young’s back and landed punches until the bell. 10-9 Chiasson.

Round 2:
The second round began with another exchange of punches and Chiasson used a guillotine choke to get Young down. Young stood and tripped Chiasson to the mat, but she could not hold her there for long. Chiasson rose to her feet and got Young down into back control before transitioning to top position. She landed short elbows while Young kept Chiasson’s left leg trapped between hers. In the final minute, Chiasson postured up and threw punches to the body She landed more short elbows to the body before time expired. 10-9 Chiasson.

Round 3:
Chiasson caught an axe kick from Young and took her down to begin round three. She first tried to secure a finish with a rear-naked choke and then let it go in favour of elbows to the side of Young’s head. Chiasson held Young against the base of the cage until Young tried to roll free. Chiasson took her back again and worked for a rear-naked choke until the end of the fight. 10-9 Chiasson.

Winner: Macy Chiasson by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26) after three rounds. She improves to 6-1-0.

 

Raulian Paiva vs Mark “Bumblebee” De La Rosa

Round 1:
Quick punches were exchanged in the opening 30 seconds and Paiva eventually held De La Rosa against the cage after initiating a clinch. He landed knees and short elbows until De La Rosa broke free. Two big right hands landed for De La Rosa and Paiva fired back with a nice flurry. Another brief clinch followed and De La Rosa darted in with a lead left hook after the break. Paiva landed a one-two and an uppercut, but De La Rosa countered with a right hand. A flurry of hooks and another uppercut scored for Paiva before the bell. 10-9 Paiva.

Round 2:
Paiva jabbed and followed with a leg kick in round two that led to an exchange of right hands. Paiva got the better of it and he bloodied De La Rosa’s nose with punches before clinching against the cage. De La Rosa broke free and both men landed jabs and right hands. De La Rosa followed with a kick to the body and the fighters traded leg kicks. Paiva connected with a hard right hook and he kept the pressure on with punches as the fight ended the final minute. A huge right hand sent De La Rosa crashing to the canvas and Paiva landed one more punch before the fight was stopped.

Winner: Raulian Paiva by KO (Punches) at 4:42 of round two. He improves to 19-3-0.
