Neil Magny vs Johny “Bigg Rigg” Hendricks

Round 1:
Magny jabbed and used kicks to keep his distance in the opening round, but Hendricks walked him down and flurried with punches to the head and body. Magny landed a hard knee to the face, but Hendricks countered with a takedown near the cage wall. He struck from the top and avoided Magny’s submission attempts from the bottom. Magny eventually trapped Hendricks in a triangle choke and he landed elbows from his back while working for a triangle armbar. Close round. 10-9 Hendricks.

Round 2:
The second round began with Magny landing more jab-kick combos until Hendricks took his back and pulled him down to the mat. He punched from the top and tried to trap Magny in a guillotine choke, but Magny scrambled up to his feet. Hendricks took him down again and secured back control for a second time. Magny regained full guard, but Hendricks kept him pinned down with punches. Magny got to his feet against the cage and ate knees along the way. 10-9 Hendricks.

Round 3:
Magny pressed forward with knees and a head kick in the final round, and he followed with a flurry of punches. Hendricks tried unsuccessfully for a takedown and Magny kept him at bay with jabs. Hendricks caught a kick and landed an overhand left, which led to a takedown against the cage. From his knees, Magny landed elbows to the body and escaped to his feet. Hendricks secured another takedown and Magny struck from his back. He locked on a tight triangle choke and threw elbows until the bell. 10-9 Magny.

Winner: Neil Magny by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 19-5-0.

 

Antônio “Cara de Sapato” Carlos Jr. vs Marvin Vettori

Round 1:
Time was called in the opening seconds after Vettori was poked in the eye, but action resumed and Vettori lunged in with kick-punch combos. Carlos was warned for keeping his hands open and time was called again. Seconds after a restart, it was Carlos who suffered an eyepoke in return. Strong warnings were given and the fight continued. Power punches were exchanged and Carlos shot in for a takedown after landing a body kick. Vettori countered with elbows, but Carlos landed a right hand and took his back. He dragged Vettori down, but Vettori reversed position. Carlos tried for a guillotine choke before the bell. 10-10.

Round 2:
Carlos scored a brief takedown early in round two, but Vettori stood and took his back against the cage. The fighters separated and Vettori landed a big combination that forced Carlos to drop levels for a takedown. Vettori stuffed it and rained down elbows from top position. He attempted a top-side guillotine choke, but Carlos escaped. Vettori landed a series of punches until Carlos used upkicks to create space. Vettori kicked at his legs as time expired. 10-9 Vettori.

Round 3:
Vettori landed powerful kicks to the body in the final round, but Carlos tied him up against the fence and worked for takedowns. He got Vettori down and landed knees to the thighs as the fighters rose to their feet. Vettori slipped while throwing a kick and Carlos rushed in with punches. He took Vettori’s back once again and got him down to a kneeling position. The round ended with Carlos landing knees and attacking with a guillotine choke. 10-9 Carlos.

Winner: Antônio Carlos Jr. by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 7-2-0, 1 NC.

 

Alex “The Dominican Nightmare” Garcia vs Mike “Quicksand” Pyle

Round 1:
Pyle landed a nice knee early in the fight, but Garcia replied with a hard kick to the liver and he took Pyle down into half-guard. Garcia passed to side control and threw knees to the body, but Pyle scrambled out and escaped to his feet. Garcia landed overhand rights and a one-two, and Pyle replied with a knee. Garcia unloaded with a massive right hand and an unconscious Pyle went crashing to the canvas.

Winner: Alex Garcia by KO (Punch) at 3:34 of round one. He improves to 14-3-0.

 

Niko “The Hybrid” Price vs Brandon “Rukus” Thatch

Round 1:
Thatch opened the action with kicks from a distance and the fighters traded right hands in close. Thatch briefly took Price’s back on the feet, but he lost the position and wound up on the bottom as the fight hit the mat. Price struck from the top and Thatch countered with a kimura, which he used to set up a sweep. Price escaped and he worked for a series of arm-triangle chokes from the top. Thatch defended well, but Price continued to attack with arm-triangles until he locked on a modified one from side control and Thatch tapped out.

Winner: Niko Price by Submission (Arm-Triangle Choke) at 4:30 of round one. He improves to 9-0-0.

 

Undercard Fight:

– Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira and Tim “The Dirty Bird” Means fought to a No Contest (Illegal Knees) at 3:33 of round one. Oliveira moves to 15-4-1, 2 NC, while Means is now 26-7-1, 1 NC.
