Cody “No Love” Garbrandt vs Tyler “The Daywalker” Saltsman

Round 1:
Garbrandt landed a nice combination early on and stuffed a pair of takedowns. He countered a flying knee with a huge right hand and shrugged off another takedown attempt from Saltsman. Garbrandt stayed on his feet and continued to dominate the striking exchanges. Once again, Garbrandt countered a flying knee with a right hook and a bloodied Saltsman fell to the mat. He stood and ate a stiff jab at the bell. 10-9 Garbrandt. Could easily be 10-8.

Round 2:
Garbrandt stuffed more of Saltsman’s takedowns in round two and landed punches and kicks. Saltsman dove in for another takedown and met with no success. Saltsman missed with a spinning backfist, spinning back kick combo and Garbrandt kept him at bay with jabs. 10-9 Garbrandt.

Round 3:
Garbrandt opened the final round with jabs and leg kicks, and avoided Saltsman’s attempts to close the distance. More leg kicks scored for Garbrandt and Saltsman was unable to get anything going. Garbrandt taunted and sprawled out of a takedown attempt, then blasted Saltsman with punches on the feet. Saltsman lifted Garbrandt over his head and fell backwards, but the slam had little effect. 10-9 Garbrandt.

Winner: Cody Garbrandt by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds.

 

Amateur Fight

Andria Caplan vs “The All-American Girl” Amanda Wilcoxen-Morgan

Round 1:
Wilcoxen-Morgan rushed forward with punches right away, but Caplan clinched and pushed her down to the mat. Caplan struck from the top, but Wilcoxen-Morgan secured an armbar from the bottom. Caplan managed to work her way free and Wilcoxen-Morgan quickly locked on another armbar. She switched to a triangle choke just before the bell. 10-9 Wilcoxen-Morgan.

Round 2:
Big punches landed for Caplan in the second round and Wilcoxen-Morgan pulled guard. Caplan punched from the top and moved to half-guard. Wilcoxen-Morgan looked to set up a submission from the bottom, but Caplan had none of it and threw more strikes. Wilcoxen-Morgan escaped back to her feet, but Caplan punished her with punches throughout the final 30 seconds. 10-9 Caplan.

Round 3:
Both fighters landed stiff jabs in the final round and Wilcoxen-Morgan bloodied Caplan’s nose. More punches followed and both fighters scored with solid strikes. A big right hook landed for Caplan and she took Wilcoxen-Morgan down. Caplan punched with her free hand from the top in Wilcoxen-Morgan’s half-guard. Wilcoxen-Morgan got back to guard, but Caplan kept the pressure on with punches until the bell. 10-9 Caplan.

Winner: Andria Caplan by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds.

 

Amateur Fight

Isaiah “The Beast” Chapman vs Hussein Ippo “Ray” Hmood

Round 1:
The fighters traded punches to open the fight and Chapman landed a nice combination inc lose. He took Hmood down and moved to mount. Chapman landed punches and Hmood gave up his back. Hmood managed to scramble out and escaped to his feet. Chapman scored with a lead left hook and a kick-punch combo.

A flurry of punches landed for Chapman and he remained aggressive with quick strikes, but Hmood answered with a nice right hand. Chapman dropped him with a hard one-two and quickly took Hmood’s back. He locked on a rear-naked choke and Hmood was forced to submit.

Winner: Isaiah Chapman by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 2:27 of round one.

 

Amateur Fight

Francis Healy vs Ronald “R.J.” Buck

Round 1:
The fighters clinched early on and exchanged knees. Buck mixed in uppercuts and landed another hard knee. He tried for a takedown, but Healy scrambled and the fighters returned to their feet. Buck scored a partial takedown, but Healy took his back and landed punches. Healy continued to unload with punches from the side until the bell. 10-9 Healy.

Round 2:
Buck clinched in round two and landed knees and uppercuts, but Healy countered with a takedown. Healy moved to mount and secured an arm-triangle choke, then took Buck’s back and landed a barrage of punches. Healy continued to punch until referee Chad Trukovich stopped the fight.

Winner: Francis Healy by TKO (Punches) at 2:10 of round two.

 

Amateur Fight

Tommy DeRoia vs Tony DiPiero

Round 1:
DiPiero clinched early on, but DeRoia reversed a takedown and punched from the top. He secured a guillotine choke and pushed DiPiero down again. DeRoia unloaded punches from top position until DiPiero battled back to his feet. DeRoia scored another takedown and once again struck from the top. DiPiero ate some big punches and rolled to his side. DeRoia took his back and landed more punches until the bell. 10-9 DeRoia.

Round 2:
The fighters exchanged punches in the second round and DiPiero landed a nice leg kick. DeRoia backed him up with four uppercuts, but DiPiero caught a body kick and took DeRoia down. DeRoia stood and attempted a guillotine choke, but appeared to be tired. DiPiero landed occasional kicks in the final minute as the outdoor heat took its toll on both fighters. 10-10.

Round 3:
DiPiero landed leg kicks in the final round, but DeRoia countered with big punches. DiPiero landed a flurry of his own and returned to leg kicks. The pace slowed way down until DiPiero attempted a takedown. A brief exchange of punches ensued and DiPiero clinched again. He was unable to secure a takedown before the bell. Very close round. 10-9 DiPiero.

Winner: Tommy DeRoia by Split Decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds.

 

Amateur Fight

Rudy Takacs vs Nick “The Blade” Dowe

Round 1:
The fighters battled for takedowns early on and Dowe eventually wound up on top in side control. Takacs scrambled out, but Dowe slammed him back down again. Dowe secured back control and landed dozens of punches – some of which were to the back of Takacs’s head – but he was unable to finish the fight before the end of the round. 10-9 Dowe.

Round 2:
Takacs defended a takedown in round two and attempted to roll into an Anaconda Choke, but lost the position and Dowe wound up on top. Takacs escaped and tried for another front choke, but Dowe worked back to his feet. Time was called after Dowe was struck in the groin, but action resumed and Dowe scored a slam takedown against the cage.

Dowe punched from the top and took Takacs’s back. Takacs worked free and landed short punches from a front headlock position. Dowe stood and landed a big right hand, but Takacs reversed a takedown and landed in mount. He teed off with punches until the bell. 10-9 Takacs, barely.

Prior to the third round, the doctor came in to check on Dowe, who appeared to be badly fatigued and possibly injured. The fight was stopped, giving Takacs the victory.

Winner: Rudy Takacs by TKO (Retirement) at 3:00 of round two.

 

Amateur Fight

Dave Lastafka vs Shane Holbert

Round 1:
Wild punches were exchanged right away and Lastafka landed kicks. He followed with a knee and Holbert took him down. Lastafka countered by rolling into a kneebar and Holbert tried to punch his way free. Lastafka stood up and kicked at Holbert, then punished him with punches as Holbert got to his feet. Lastafka hurt Holbert with a punch and pulled a guillotine before the bell. 10-9 Lastafka.

Round 2:
Holbert landed a flurry of punches in round two, but was dropped by a standing backfist. Lastafka followed with punches on the ground and Holbert was rendered unconscious. Referee Mark Matheny dove in to stop the fight.

Winner: Dave Lastafka by KO (Punches) at 0:30 of round two.

 

  1. Daly’s a 1 trick pony! She said she wanted to stand up with Jess and give us a show, but she couldn’t deliver, didn’t even try….She doesn’t deserve that belt in my opinion.

  2. Great way to start the nite with Fite #1. Fists and kicks were flyin for both and couple take downs but Lastafka’s strength dominated and took him down. TKO/KO
    Gotta watch this guy come up the ranks!
