Dan “The Samurai” Lin vs Josh “The Beef Storm” Spong

Round 1:
Lin backed Spong up to the cage early on, but Spong countered with leg kicks and a big right hook. Lin answered with a right cross and Spong landed more leg kicks. Lin took Spong down near the cage and Spong used rubber guard to keep Lin from posturing up. He worked for a Kimura, but Lin defended well. Spong then locked on an armbar and a triangle choke from his back.

Spong switched to a gogoplata, but Lin escaped. Lin tried to land strikes from the top, but was forced to fight off more submission attempts from a crafty Spong. Lin landed short elbows and Spong attempted an armbar. In the final seconds, Lin dropped back for a heel hook and then a kneebar, but Spong escaped danger and secured a rear-naked choke right at the bell. 10-9 Spong, barely.

Round 2:
Spong landed a glancing head kick in the second round and Lin fired back with a big right hook and a three-punch flurry. The fighters exchanged hard punches and Lin took Spong down. The pace slowed as Lin worked from the top in Spong’s guard, where he landed occasional punches and elbows. Spong attempted an armbar and Lin escaped.

Lin began to score with effective elbows as Spong was unable to set up any submissions from his back. Lin pressed Spong up against the cage and landed nice right hands and more elbows. Spong struggled to defend, but tried for a triangle choke. Lin avoided danger and landed more strikes at the bell. 10-9 Lin.

Round 3:
Lin landed a combination and took Spong down in the final round. He moved to North-South and then to side-control. Spong regained half-guard, but Lin peppered him with short punches and elbows. Lin moved to full mount and teed off with vicious elbows until the referee stopped the fight.

Winner: Dan Lin by TKO (Elbows) at 3:02 of round three. He improves to 3-1-0.

 

Connor Wood vs Dia Grant

Round 1:
Wood opened the fight with leg kicks and jabs, but Grant countered with knees and uppercuts in close. More hard leg kicks scored for Wood and the fighters traded punches. Grant briefly buckled Wood with a counter right hook and both landed knees in a clinch. A bloodied Grant took Wood down and punched from the top.

Grant managed to sweep and landed punches of his own, but Wood scrambled to his feet and Grant followed. Grant landed a stiff jab and Wood answered with a body kick. Grant attempted a flying triangle choke and then an armbar, but wound up on the ground. Wood teed off with punches and two elbows until the fight was stopped, perhaps a bit prematurely.

Winner: Connor Wood by TKO (Punches) at 4:29 of round one. He improves to 3-2-0.

 

Karl “The Viking” Bergen vs Todd “The Gangster” Mabbott

Round 1:
Bergen scored an early takedown and moved straight to mount, but Mabbott managed to regain guard. Bergen punched from the top and passed to half-guard, but Mabbott got back to full guard again. This time, Bergen moved to side-control and Mabbott tried to scramble into an Anaconda Choke from the bottom. Bergen locked on a Kimura and torqued back on Mabbott’s left arm.

Mabbott held on and managed to escape, but Bergen punished him with punches and hammerfists. Bergen took partial back control and continued to blast Mabbott with punches and more hammerfists. He mixed in knees to the body shortly before the end of the dominant round. 10-8 Bergen.

Round 2:
Mabbott rushed in with a variety of kicks to the body and one to the head in round two, but Bergen sidestepped and took Mabbott down. Mabbott tried to sweep, but Bergen kept him down. Mabbott tied Bergen up and prevented him from landing anything damaging. Bergan managed to pass to half-guard and threw short punches from the top.

Bergen landed a big elbow, but Mabbott used the opportunity to regain full guard. Bergen stood up and returned to Mabbott’s half-guard, where he landed more short strikes. Bergen moved to side-control and threw elbows as Mabbott defended. Bergen then secured another Kimura on Mabbott’s left arm and forced Mabbott to submit.

Winner: Karl Bergen by Submission (Kimura) at 4:48 of round two. He improves to 3-0-0.

 

Nathan “Road House” Swayze vs Warren “The Enemy” Anderson

Round 1:
Anderson missed with a combination early on and Swayze threw a head kick. He clinched and muscled Anderson up against the cage, but Anderson reversed and took Swayze down. Swayze used a guillotine choke to get back to his feet and dropped Anderson briefly with counterpunches. Anderson stood and Swayze took him down. Anderson stood and attempted a takedown of his own, but Swayze threw him down again.

Swayze worked for a Brabo Choke, then countered an Anderson takedown with a triangle choke attempt. Anderson elbowed free and took Swayze’s back. Swayze shrugged Anderson off and stood up. Anderson caught a kick and dropped Swayze with a left hook. He punched from the top, then secured a Kimura from Swayze’s half-guard. Swayze was in big trouble, but managed to hold on until the bell. 10-9 Anderson due to the late rally.

Round 2:
Anderson rushed in for a takedown in round two, but Swayze countered with another Brabo Choke. The fighters stood and Anderson landed a big left hook. Swayze took Anderson down and fought out of a full nelson. Back on the feet, Anderson landed a knee in close. The fighters traded huge punches and more knees.

Swayze landed a left hook to the liver, but was taken down. He attempted an inverted triangle choke and Anderson escaped. Anderson secured a keylock from the top and wrenched back on Swayze’s arm. Anderson then moved to mount and landed weak punches until the bell. Both fighters appeared to be exhausted. 10-9 Anderson.

Round 3:
Anderson landed lunging punches in the final round, but Swayze countered with knees and tossed Anderson to the ground. He took Anderson’s back and worked for a rear-naked choke. A bloodied Anderson somehow fought out of the choke, but Swayze locked it on a second time and Anderson finally tapped.

Winner: Nathan Swayze by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 1:53 of round three. He improves to 1-1-0.

 

Chris “The Hooligan” Jones vs Leif Optland

Round 1:
Big punches were exchanged right away and Jones threw Optland to the mat against the cage. Jones used short elbows from Optland’s half-guard, then stood and dropped back with an achilles lock. Optland tried to counter with one of his own, but Jones switched to a heel hook and Optland tapped out.

Winner: Chris Jones by Submission (Heel Hook) at 1:42 of round one. He improves to 3-1-0.
