Herschel Walker To Face Greg NagyFormer NFL Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker will make his mixed martial arts debut on January 30th at Strikeforce: Miami against promotional newcomer Greg Nagy. The 47-year-old Walker’s debut fight was confirmed earlier today and will air on the event’s televised main card.

Walker signed a multi-fight deal with Strikeforce in September and has since been training with the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose. His opponent, Nagy, is a veteran of the Arizona-based Rage In The Cage promotion and fought two times in 2009.

UFC 115 Targeted For Vancouver On June 12thAfter a pair of successful trips north of the border, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to Canada for two more events at UFC 113 and 115. The latter card is being targeted for General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 12th. Potential fights for the debut Vancouver card have not yet been announced.

The promotion enjoyed great success with a pair of sold out events at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Québec in April of 2008 and 2009 and UFC President Dana White has spoken highly of Canada’s love for MMA.

More Fights Announced For Strikeforce: MiamiWith just over three weeks until the event, Strikeforce has finalised two bouts for its January 30th Strikeforce: Miami card. Middleweight knockout artists “Marvellous” Melvin Manhoef and “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler will square off in what is certain to be an explosive matchup, while UFC veterans Jay “The Thoroughbred” Hieron and Joe “Diesel” Riggs do battle at 170 pounds.

Hieron, who was originally set to face Nick Diaz for the vacant Strikeforce Welterweight Championship in August, now finds himself out of the title picture and relegated to competing on the undercard.

Miesha Tate To Face Valerie Coolbaugh At FCF 38After plans for a January fight in Strikeforce did not materialise, Freestyle Cage Fighting Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha “Takedown” Tate will return to action at FCF 38 on January 16th when she defends her title against tough challenger “Vicious” Valerie Coolbaugh.

The fight will be one of three title bouts on the card and will be featured prominently in advance of the promotion’s Women’s Bantamweight Grand Prix on January 30th. The roster for the women’s tournament is complete and first-round brackets will be announced shortly.
