A rematch between two of the top female fighters in Asia has been added to the upcoming DEEP: “52 Impact” card in Tokyo, Japan on February 25th. Japan’s Saori “Shooting Star” Ishioka will look to avenge the second loss of her career when she rematches South Korean standout Seo Hee Ham.
The two first squared off in the opening round of the 2008 Smackgirl World ReMix Grand Prix, with Ham emerging victorious via Unanimous Decision. Ham most recently competed in the Jewels Lightweight Queen tournament, but lost in the final round against Megumi Fujii protégé Ayaka Hamasaki.

A 125-pound women’s bout between Barb “Little Warrior” Honchak and Nina Ansaroff is in the works for Crowbar MMA: “Spring Brawl 2” on April 29th in Fargo, North Dakota. Matchmaker Chris Nelson told MMARising.com today that verbal agreements are in place, but the fight is not yet signed.
Honchak is coming off of an impressive win over Felice “Lil Bulldog” Herrig earlier this month, but fought just once in 2010. Ansaroff made her pro debut in September and upset Catia “Cat Woman” Vitoria, but recently suffered her first defeat against Carla Esparza at a December Crowbar MMA event.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship travelled to Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas tonight for UFC Fight Night 23: “Fight For The Troops 2.” The main event of the evening saw top contender Evan Dunham take on hard-hitting veteran Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard in a pivotal lightweight clash.
Also on the card, Matt Mitrione battled Tim “The Thrashing Machine” Hague in the heavyweight co-main event, while Mark “The Machine” Hominick faced George Roop in a featherweight bout that could propel Hominick into a title fight later in 2011. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for the card.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has officially confirmed five more bouts for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 24: “Ortiz vs Nogueira” event in Seattle, Washington on March 29th. Former Tachi Palace Fights Bantamweight Champion Michael “Mayday” McDonald will face rising star Nick Pace.
A pair of welterweight bouts will pit once-beaten British prospect John “The Hitman” Hathaway against Kris “Savage” McCray, while Dennis “Superman” Hallman takes on Anthony “T.J.” Waldburger. Elsewhere, Sean McCorkle faces Christian Morecraft and Aaron Simpson battles Mario Miranda.

A trilogy bout between middleweight rivals Jason “Mayhem” Miller and Tim Kennedy is currently in the works for Strikeforce: “Columbus” on March 5th. MMAjunkie.com was first to report on the targeted matchup between the former Strikeforce title challengers, who each hold one win over the other.
Miller and Kennedy first met at Extreme Challenge 50 in February of 2003, where Kennedy prevailed via three-round decision. Miller gained a measure of revenge in a late 2007 rematch under the HDNet Fights banner and a win for either fighter will put the victor back in the Strikeforce title hunt.

The “Little Warrior” reigned supreme against the “Lil Bulldog” on Friday night, as Barb Honchak defeated Felice Herrig via competitive decision after three hard-fought rounds. The featured women’s bout served as the co-main event of Hoosier Fight Club 6: “New Years Nemesis” in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Honchak, who earned her second MMA win as a professional, used effective knees from a Thai clinch that bloodied Herrig’s nose, and she rocked Herrig with a spinning backfist late in the fight. The victory gets Honchak back on track after a loss to unbeaten prospect Cat “Alpha” Zingano one year ago.

A second women’s bout has been added to the undercard of Strikeforce: “Diaz vs Cyborg” on January 29th in San Jose, California. Muay Thai and San Shou standout Jenna Castillo will make her MMA debut against fellow Californian Charlene “Princess” Gellner, who went 3-0 as an amateur.
Strikeforce Director of Communications Mike Afromowitz confirmed the bout with MMARising.com today. Castillo, who holds a reported 30-1 combined record in Muay Thai and San Shou, has won titles in both disciplines. The Fairtex Gym prospect will now transition to MMA on the January card.

A third meeting between UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie “The Answer” Edgar and Gray “The Bully” Maynard is reportedly set for UFC 130 on May 28th in Las Vegas. MMAFighting.com was first to report on the fight, which comes on the heels of the pair’s second bout at UFC 125; a Split Draw.
Edgar was battered and nearly finished on numerous occasions in the first round of the UFC 125 rematch, but battled back and earned at least three of the final four rounds on two judges’ scorecards. The bout was ruled even and Maynard was subsequently awarded a second title shot as a result.
