Kelvin Gastelum vs Chris “The Action Man” Curtis

Round 1:
Gastelum countered an early leg kick from Curtis with a three-punch combo and a leg kick of his own. He attacked Curtis’s lead leg with more kicks, but Curtis scored with a huge right-left combo. Gastelum quickly recovered and flurried to the body, then landed an overhand left. He used a leg kick to set up a jab-cross combo and Curtis answered with an uppercut. Gastelum landed a pair of overhand lefts and he followed with a calf kick. A cut was opened above Curtis’s right eye and Gastelum threw another combination. 10-9 Gastelum.

Round 2:
Gastelum opened the second round with a hard calf kick, but Curtis countered a second kick from Gastelum with a quick flurry of uppercuts. As Curtis stepped forward with a one-two to the body, the fighters clashed heads and Curtis fell to the mat. Gastelum punched the sides of his head until Curtis rose to his feet and charged at him with punches that missed. Gastelum clinched with him against the cage until Curtis circled away. Gastelum threw a combination to the body and ate a left hook in response. The fighters exchanged left hooks and Curtis landed two right hooks to Gastelum’s body. Gastelum used his jab to set up two straight lefts and he landed a big left hook before the bell. 10-9 Gastelum.

Round 3:
The final round began with Gastelum landing a leg kick and two jabs, and Curtis replied with an overhand left. The fighters traded left hands and Curtis went high with a head kick attempt after landing an elbow. Gastelum attacked the body and Curtis landed a lead right hook in response. Curtis stepped forward with two more right hooks and Gastelum clinched. Curtis pushed him away and landed a right hook and a knee to the body. He followed with an elbow in close, then a huge right hook and a knee that snapped Gastelum’s head back. Gastelum landed two overhand lefts late in the fight. 10-9 Curtis.

Winner: Kelvin Gastelum by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 18-8-0, 1 NC.

 

Luana Pinheiro vs Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson-Gomez

Round 1:
Waterson-Gomez struck first with two leg kicks and she avoided a lunging hook from Pinheiro. Waterson-Gomez backed Pinheiro up with a spinning back elbow and Pinheiro landed a leg kick in response. Waterson-Gomez dropped Pinheiro with a front kick to her face and followed with a knee as soon as Pinheiro stood up. Pinheiro landed a big right hook and followed with a second one just before the bell. Close round due to Pinheiro’s late rally. Still 10-9 Waterson-Gomez.

Round 2:
Waterson-Gomez scored with a right hook and a front kick to Pinheiro’s face to begin round two. Pinheiro hurt her with a calf kick in response and she countered a kick from Waterson-Gomez with a right hook. Pinheiro backed Waterson-Gomez up to the cage with two looping right hooks and then initiated a clinch. Waterson-Gomez broke free and ate another calf kick. Pinheiro caught a body kick and landed two right hands before Waterson-Gomez freed her leg. Waterson-Gomez landed an elbow on the break and followed with a right hook. Pinheiro avoided a clinch attempt from Waterson-Gomez and cracked her with a right hand. 10-9 Pinheiro.

Round 3:
The final round began with a brief takedown from Waterson-Gomez, who took Pinheiro’s back and kneed her thigh. Pinheiro reversed a hip toss attempt and held Waterson-Gomez against the cage. She bloodied Waterson-Gomez’s nose and Waterson-Gomez pushed her away. Pinheiro countered front kick attempts from Waterson-Gomez with a body kick. Waterson-Gomez missed with a spinning back elbow attempt, but she countered a body kick with a stiff jab. Waterson-Gomez took Pinheiro down in the final 30 seconds and briefly hopped on her back as Pinheiro stood up. She held Pinheiro against the cage until the bell. Close round. 10-9 Waterson-Gomez. Decision could go either way.

Joseph “Bodybagz” Pyfer vs Gerald “GM3” Meerschaert

Round 1:
Pyfer blocked two head kicks in the opening 90 seconds and he landed a front kick to Meerschaert’s body. A hard right hook scored for Pyfer and he countered a body kick with a hard one-two. Meerschaert fell to the mat and covered up as Pyfer stood over him and landed more punches until the fight was stopped.

Winner: Joseph Pyfer by TKO (Punches) at 3:15 of round one. He improves to 11-2-0.

 

“Loopy” Lupita Godinez vs Cynthia Calvillo

Round 1:
Godinez landed an early right hook and she jabbed while staying outside of Calvillo’s range. She landed a leg kick and a left hook, and Calvillo answered with a one-two. Godinez landed a body kick and used it to set up an overhand right, but Calvillo countered with a takedown into half-guard. Godinez tied her up from the bottom and then kicked Calvillo off. She rose to her feet and landed a body kick. 10-9 Godinez.

Round 2:
The second round began with Godinez using jabs to set up quick right hands while avoiding Calvillo’s counters. Calvillo eventually timed Godinez’s movement and landed a right hook, but she was unable to take Godinez down. Godinez slowed down and Calvillo landed a long jab. She continued to jab and prevented Godinez from closing the distance. Godinez landed a front kick to the body and Calvillo fired back with a one-two. She followed with another combination, but Godinez landed a counter right hook. Calvillo continued to jab and Godinez landed a front kick to the body and three quick punches. Close round. 10-9 Calvillo.

Round 3:
Calvillo bloodied Godinez’s nose with jabs and Godinez landed a quick combo in response. Calvillo threw more jabs and Godinez landed a hard right hand over the top. She followed with a front kick to Calvillo’s body and Calvillo countered a one-two with a lead left uppercut. Godinez fought off a clinch attempt by landing a right hook on the break. Calvillo jabbed and landed a side kick to Godinez’s body. Hard punches were exchanged in close and both women landed left hooks. Godinez followed up with a body kick and she countered a jab from Calvillo with a one-two. Godinez slipped while throwing a head kick, but she quickly stood and took Calvillo’s back. Godinez suplexed Calvillo to the ground and Calvillo stood up before the final bell. Another close round. 10-9 Godinez by a slim margin.

Winner: Lupita Godinez by Split Decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. She improves to 9-3-0.

 

Ignacio “La Jaula” Bahamondes vs Trey “Samurai Ghost” Ogden

Round 1:
During a cautious opening two minutes, Bahamondes landed occasional kicks to Ogden’s lead leg and body. Both men landed left hooks and Bahamondes threw another body kick. He attacked Ogden’s left leg with more kicks and then followed with a straight left hand. Ogden offered very little offence and Bahamondes landed a few leg and body kicks late in the round. 10-9 Bahamondes.

Round 2:
Bahamondes landed a body kick and a hard jab in the early stages of round two. He backed Ogden up with a straight left hand, but Ogden finally connected with a solid left hook after resuming his march forward. Bahamondes landed a lead right hook and Ogden countered with a right hand to the body. The crowd booed the lack of action until Bahamondes threw a front kick to Ogden’s body. Ogden blocked a head kick before the bell. 10-9 Bahamondes.

Round 3:
Action remained sprase in the final round. Bahamondes threw occasional body kicks and Ogden jabbed. Bahamondes chopped away at Ogden’s left leg with kicks to the inside and outside as the crowd voiced its displeasure again. Bahamondes landed two body kicks and a left hand to Ogden’s ribs, then followed with a spinning back kick. Ogden landed a right hook in response and Bahamondes threw a spinning wheel kick and one more spinning back kick to the body. 10-9 Bahamondes. Not a good fight.

Winner: Ignacio Bahamondes by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 14-4-0.

 

Steve “Mean Machine” Garcia vs Nuerdanbieke “Wolverine” Shayilan

Round 1:
Time was called early in the fight when Shayilan was kicked in the groin. After the restart, Shayilan floored Garcia with a right hook and then landed more punches while standing over him. Garcia weathered the storm and Shayilan settled into his guard. Garcia got to his feet and Shayilan held him in back control against the cage until Garcia turned into the clinch. Shayilan threw Garcia down to the mat and struck from the top, but Garcia cut him with hammerfists from the bottom and returned to his feet. Garcia blocked a head kick and landed two hard left hooks that prompted Shayilan to clinch before the bell. 10-9 Shayilan.

Round 2:
Garcia rocked Shayilan with a head kick and a one-two. Shayilan tried to clinch, but Garcia dropped him with a left hook to the liver. Shayilan covered up and the fight was stopped.

Winner: Steve Garcia by KO (Punch To The Body) at 0:36 of round two. She improves to 14-5-0.

 

Sam “Sampage” Hughes vs Jaqueline Amorim

Round 1:
Jabs were exchanged on the feet until Amorim shot in for a takedown and transitioned to Hughes’s back. She lost the position and Hughes got to her feet, but Amorim pulled her back down and moved to back control again. She secured a body triangle and locked on a rear-naked choke, but Hughes managed to break her grip. Amorim adjusted her grip and secured another choke, but Hughes defended again. Amorim turned over into top position and looked for an arm-triangle choke, but Hughes escaped to her feet and landed a combination before the bell. 10-9 Amorim, if not a 10-8.

Round 2:
Amorim resorted to pulling guard in round two and Hughes punched her in the face from the top. She stood up and forced Amorim to follow. Amorim pulled guard again and tried to spin into a kneebar. Hughes defended and stood up. Amorim was slow to get to her feet, but she tied Hughes up in a clinch against the cage. Amorim briefly got Hughes down and attempted a heel hook, but Hughes stood and took Amorim down before the bell. 10-9 Hughes.

Round 3:
Hughes landed a head kick to begin the final round and Amorim pulled guard. Hughes stood and Amorim had to follow. She pulled guard again and Hughes countered with hammerfists from the top. Hughes continued to punch Amorim’s face and she landed some hard strikes as the fight entered its final 30 seconds. Hughes stood and Amorim reluctantly followed. She pulled guard against the cage and both women landed punches on the ground. The fight returned to the feet and Hughes blasted Amorim with a combination before the bell. 10-9 Hughes.

Winner: Sam Hughes by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. She improves to 8-5-0.
