Matt “The Immortal” Brown vs Tim “The Dirty Bird” Means

Round 1:
Means hurt Brown with a straight left and an elbow early on. He followed with more punches, but time was called after he was poked in the eye. Action resumed and Brown briefly dropped Means with two right hands, but Means recovered quickly and the fighters clinched. Means broke free and landed punches, but Brown answered with a head kick and a standing guillotine choke. He took Means down, but Means stood and pushed him backwards with a front kick to the body. He followed with punches and hurt Brown with an elbow. Brown countered with two big elbows of his own and Means fell into a guillotine choke that forced him to hastily submit.

Winner: Matt Brown by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 4:44 of round one. He improves to 20-13-0.

 

Alex “The Dominican Nightmare” Garcia vs Mike “Quick” Swick

Round 1:
Garcia took Swick down against the cage in the opening seconds and he threw short elbows from half-guard. Swick scrambled up and landed a leg kick after catching a kick from Garcia. He connected with a counter knee as Garcia pressed forward and the fighters traded punches at the bell. 10-9 Garcia, barely.

Round 2:
Garcia scored another early takedown in round two and he landed a knee and a right hook after Swick returned to his feet. Swick jabbed and Garcia lunged in with hooks. A nice right hand landed for Garcia and he followed with a body kick. He took Swick down into side control and nearly mounted him. Swick got back to half-guard and Garcia punched to the body. 10-9 Garcia.

Round 3:
Stiff jabs were exchanged in the final round and Garcia bloodied Swick’s mouth with punches. Swick connected with a short right cross and Garcia countered by slamming him down to the mat. Swick attempted a triangle choke and Garcia dove in with a right hand. He mounted Swick and landed short punches until Swick scrambled back to half-guard. Garcia mounted him again and spun for a late armbar, but Swick escaped. 10-9 Garcia.

Winner: Alex Garcia by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 13-2-0.

 

John “Doomsday” Howard vs Cathal “The Punisher” Pendred

Round 1:
Howard landed a nice left hook early in the fight and he clinched after catching a body kick. Pendred reversed position and landed knees. Both men landed right hooks in a brief exchange and Howard caught another body kick. He connected with a right hook and an uppercut, then followed with a looping left. Another flurry landed for Howard and Pendred clinched in search of a takedown. 10-9 Howard.

Round 2:
The fighters exchanged knees to the body in a clinch in round two and Howard broke away with a looping left hand. He pressed forward and landed a series of punches over the top. Both men landed knees in a clinch and Howard threw three quick right hands. He followed with leg kicks and a flurry. He stunned Pendred with another combination before the bell. 10-9 Howard.

Round 3:
Howard hurt Pendred with a leg kick in the final round, but Pendred clinched and threw knees to the body. Howard took Pendred down and escaped from a guillotine choke. Pendred returned to his feet and Howard fired off five right hooks and uppercuts in the clinch. He landed a leg kick and a one-two, then finished the round with looping overhand rights. 10-9 Howard.

Winner: John Howard by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 23-11-0.

 

Cody “No Love” Garbrandt vs Henry “Bure” Briones

Round 1:
The fighters traded cautious punches in the opening minute and Briones countered a one-two with a knee. He grazed with an overhand right and Garbrandt quickly answered with another one-two. Briones connected with lead left hooks and Garbrandt replied with one of his own. Brioness tagged him with two stiff jabs and Garbrandt briefly took him down. Briones stood and landed a right hook, but Garbrandt took him back down and he finished the round strong with punches and elbows from mount. 10-9 Garbrandt.

Round 2:
Garbrandt flurried in round two and Briones continued to have success with lead left hooks. Garbrandt backed him up with a right hook and followed with a left. He dropped and bloodied Briones with a right hand and followed with more punches on the ground, but Briones recovered and got back to his feet. He scored with a one-two and a running knee to the face. Both men landed kicks and left hooks. 10-9 Garbrandt.

Round 3:
Little transpired in the opening half of the final round until the fighters finally traded jabs and right hands. He jumped in with a flying knee and followed with a lead left hook. Power punches were exchanged and Briones pressed forward with a solid combination. Garbrandt took him down and struck from the top. He stood and landed a jumping knee as Briones followed. Big right hands landed for both fighters and Garbrandt blasted Briones with a lengthy flurry before the bell. 10-9 Garbrandt.

Winner: Cody Garbrandt by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 7-0-0.

 

Undercard Fights:

– Louis “Da Last Samurai” Smolka defeated Neil “2Tap” Seery by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 9-1-0 with the win.

– Cody “The Pfist” Pfister defeated Yosdenis “The Pink Panther” Cedeno by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 12-4-1 with the win.
