Pat “Bam Bam” Healy vs Mizuto Hirota
Round 1:
After an exchange of left hooks, Hirota clinched and backed Healy up to the cage. He took Healy down and tried to posture up with right hands. The referee stood the fighters up and Hirota clinched again. Healy reversed and tried for a takedown, but Hirota stuffed it. The fight returned to a clinch against the cage and Healy broke away with an elbow. He landed quick punches and Hirota clinched before the bell. Close round. 10-9 Hirota.
Round 2:
Hirota was able to take the fight to the mat again in the second round, but Healy worked his way back to his feet. Hirota clinched and landed a standing elbow as the fighters separated. Healy scored a takedown of his own and threw short elbows from the top. Hirota used the cage to work back up and Healy landed an elbow. Punches were exchanged and Hirota sprawled out of a takedown. Healy landed another hard elbow. 10-9 Hirota, barely.
Round 3:
Hirota flurried with punches in round three and backed Healy up to the cage. The fighters battled in the clinch and the referee separated them. Hirota scored with a combination and two lead left hooks. Healy answered with a right and a leg kick. Healy worked for a takedown, but he could not hold Hirota down.
Hirota tried to take Healy’s back, but he lost the position and wound up on the mat. He kicked Healy off and stood up. Hirota landed a one-two and Healy took him down. As Hirota stood, Healy nearly took his back as time expired. Another close round. 10-9 Healy by a small margin.
Winner: Pat Healy by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 28-16-0.
Ryan Couture vs Joe “Hybrid” Duarte
Round 1:
Duarte walked Couture down with right hands early on and caught a kick. He landed another right hook and Couture tried for a takedown. Duarte countered with a Brabo Choke, but Couture managed to escape. The fighters separated and Duarte landed a combination. Right hooks were exchanged and Duarte flurried to the body. He landed a combination and a body kick, then tripped Couture to the mat. Couture tried for an omoplata and the fighters stood. 10-9 Duarte.
Round 2:
Couture scored a takedown in round two and landed some solid punches as Duarte worked back to his feet against the cage. Duarte broke away and landed a leg kick, but Couture fired back with a one-two and a front kick that grazed the jaw. Duarte landed a right hook and secured a bodylock takedown. Duarte allowed Couture to stand and stuffed a takedown.
Both fighters landed right hands in close and Couture just missed with another front kick. He took Duarte down and landed right hands, then tried for a rear-naked choke. Duarte defended, but Couture moved to mount and unloaded with punches and elbows in the final seconds. 10-9 Couture.
Round 3:
Couture landed a knee to the body early in round three and Duarte answered with a body kick. The fighters clinched briefly and Duarte backed away. He ducked under a right hook and took Couture down. Duarte attempted a Peruvian Necktie and Couture managed to escape. Couture stood and Duarte avoided a trip takedown.
Couture easily stuffed a Duarte takedown attempt and took Duarte down. Duarte worked for a Kimura and a triangle choke. Duarte stood and caught a kick, but he was too tired to take Couture down. Couture scored a takedown of his own and tried to hold Duarte down. Duarte stood and Couture landed knees. Close final round. 10-9 Couture due to the late rally.
Winner: Ryan Couture by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 5-1-0.
Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal vs Justin “The Silverback” Wilcox
Round 1:
Masvidal opened the fight with a quick combination and Wilcox landed a right hook in return. Wilcox threw a body kick and a jab. He took Masvidal down and secured back control. Masvidal stood and Wilcox landed a combination. He missed with a flying knee attempt, but landed a one-two as Masvidal threw a knee to the body.
A flying knee dropped Wilcox and Masvidal swarmed him with punches. Wilcox fell down twice, but managed to recover enough to shoot in for a takedown. Masvidal sprawled out and stuffed it. He landed a big knee to Wilcox’s jaw and mixed up his strikes. Wilcox circled to recover and Masvidal landed a head kick. 10-9 Masvidal.
Round 2:
Masvidal landed a one-two in the second round and easily avoided a takedown attempt from Wilcox. Stiff jabs landed for Masvidal and he followed with a leg kick. Wilcox landed a grazing head kick and tried unsuccessfully for a takedown. Masvidal returned fire with a nice right cross and more jabs. Wilcox pushed forward with a lunging two-punch combination and the fighters traded hooks in close.
Wilcox missed with a Superman Punch, but he landed two jabs and a right cross. More quick punches found the mark for Wilcox, but they appeared to have no effect. Wilcox took Masvidal down for all of one second and Masvidal punished him on the feet with a right hook and a knee. Wilcox remained aggressive with punches in the final 15 seconds, but Masvidal defended well. Much closer round. 10-9 Masvidal.
Round 3:
Wilcox faked a takedown and landed a left hook in the final round. Masvidal kept his distance and landed a leg kick as Wilcox looked to put together punching combinations. Masvidal threw a kick to the upper body, but it only seemed to fuel Wilcox, who rushed forward with punches. Masvidal landed a kick-punch combo and Wilcox threw more punches in succession.
Wilcox took Masvidal down and moved to his back as Masvidal stood. Wilcox dragged him down to the mat and tried to keep him pinned down against the cage. Masvidal used the fence to work back to his feet and Wilcox jabbed. Masvidal stuffed a takedown and the fighters exchanged kicks. Masvidal landed a knee and a right hook. He avoided two more takedowns. Wilcox flurried before the bell. 10-9 Wilcox.
Winner: Jorge Masvidal by Split Decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 23-7-0.
Jordan “Young Gun” Mein vs Tyler “The Evolution” Stinson
Round 1:
The fight began with an exchange of punches and both fighters scored with left hooks. Mein threw a leg kick and a one-two. He put together a nice combination that appeared to briefly hurt Stinson in the final two minutes. Stinson backed up to the cage and Mein continued to score with punches. Stinson answered back with a flurry of his own and Mein landed an uppercut and a left hook late in the round. 10-9 Mein.
Round 2:
Both fighters were aggressive with punches in the second round. Stinson landed a combination, but Mein backed him up with a hard three-punch flurry. More power punches were exchanged and both men landed overhand lefts. A bloodied Stinson fired off another combination and Mein countered with jabs and a leg kick. Stinson took him down against the cage, but Mein got back to his feet and attempted a spinning backfist. Main began to bleed from the nose and Stinson landed a leg kick and a left hook. Close second round. 10-9 Mein.
Round 3:
Mein jabbed and flurried with punches in the final round. Stinson answered with a combination and a left hook. Mein swarmed with punches and Stinson circled out to the side. A solid combination backed Stinson up and the fighters exchanged jabs. Both landed left hooks and Stinson scored with a body kick. Mein looked to set up left hooks with his jab, but Stinson landed a left in return. The round ended with an exchange of left hooks. 10-9 Mein.
Winner: Jordan Mein by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 25-8-0.
“The Kansas City Bandit” Jason High vs Nate Moore
Round 1:
After an early leg kick from High, Moore shot in for a takedown. High countered with a tight guillotine choke and Moore had nowhere to go. He tapped out, giving High a quick and impressive victory.
Winner: Jason High by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 0:26 of round one. He improves to 16-3-0.
