World Victory Road "Sengoku V" Results

Alexandre Ribeiro Wins MMA Debut Beginning their inaugural Middleweight Grand Prix, World Victory Road kicked off the tournament at "Sengoku V" with four bouts that saw Jorge Santiago, Kazuhiro Nakamura, Siyar Bahadurzada and Yuki Sasaki all advance to the next round.

Though Santiago's battle with Logan Clark was an excellent one, the tournament was somewhat marred by the unsportsmanlike conduct of Bahadurzada and lacklustre remaining qualifying bouts.

DREAM: Olympia Dream.6 Results

Gegard Mousasi Knocks Out Jacaré DREAM's inaugural Middleweight Grand Prix concluded with a trio of quick stoppages at Dream.6, which saw Gegard Mousasi submit "Marvellous" Melvin Manhoef and knock out Ronaldo "Jacaré" Souza to become the first DREAM Middleweight Champion.

The highly-anticipated heavyweight clash between Alistair "Demolition Man" Overeem and Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipović sadly ended in a No Contest after two inadvertent low blows from Overeem.

"Strikeforce At The Mansion II" Results

Kazuo Misaki Defeats Joe Riggs Returning to the infamous Playboy Mansion one year after their first show, Strikeforce put on another solid night of fights for the Bunnies, but the main event between Kazuo Misaki and Joe Riggs concluded with a controversial referee stoppage.

Elsewhere on the card, Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Josh "The Punk" Thomson made short work of Ashe Bowman, while "The Endless Fighter" Mitsuhiro Ishida submitted Justin Wilcox.

UFC Fight Night 15 Results

Nate Diaz Narrowly Defeats Josh Neer Entering Nebraska for the first time, the UFC put on an exciting night of fights at UFC Fight Night 15. Split decisions dominated the main card bouts, as Alan Belcher and Nate Diaz both emerged victorious with extremely close decision wins.

In the first fight of the main card telecast, hometown star Houston "The Assassin" Alexander dropped his third straight fight, losing by arm-triangle choke to Eric Schafer in round one.

Sarah Kaufman Signs With EliteXC Following a five-month layoff from competition, undefeated Canadian standout Sarah Kaufman has finally managed to find a promotion with females willing to face her, as she has signed a contract to compete in the EliteXC women's division.

Kaufman (7-0-0), a relentless powerhouse who has won all of her fights by stoppage due to strikes, will finally get a chance to compete against many of the world's top 140-pound female fighters.

Evan Tanner Dead At 37

Evan Tanner Found Dead In a truly sad story, former UFC Middleweight Champion Evan Tanner, 37, was found dead earlier today by members of the Imperial Valley Sheriff's Department after embarking on a camping trip into the desert area north of Brawley, California.

Tanner had previously posted in his online blog about the potential dangers of the trip, but adventures such as this were a staple in his life and he undoubtedly died while doing what he loved.

UFC 88 Results & Recap

Rashad Evans Knocks Out Chuck Liddell A night that featured many tactical and strategic battles ended with a bang, as UFC 88 concluded with one of the most shocking knockouts in recent memory when "Sugar" Rashad Evans turned out the lights on Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell.

Following a slow and methodical first round, Evans countered an uppercut attempt from Liddell with Liddell's own trademark punch - the overhand right - and left Liddell unconscious.

Parisyan vs Yoshida Cancelled

Karo Parisyan Suffers 'Back Injury' Citing a back injury that has apparently left him barely able to walk, Karo "The Heat" Parisyan has now withdrawn from his UFC 88 bout with Yoshiyuki "Zenko" Yoshida, leaving Yoshida without an opponent and forcing the fight to be cancelled.

Parisyan, who was seen by many as a heavy underdog for the bout with Yoshida, allegedly threw his back out sometime between Thursday evening and the scheduled weigh-ins on Friday.

UFC 88 Predictions

Dan Henderson Prepares For Rousimar Palhares MMARising.com welcomes a new face to the team, as Mike Miller joins Robert Sargent and Daniel Regan for a breakdown of the card for UFC 88: Breakthrough, which is headlined by "Sugar" Rashad Evans challenging Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell.

Also on the card is a light heavyweight bout between former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich "Ace" Franklin and Matt "The Hammer" Hamill, while Dan Henderson battles Rousimar Palhares.

Couture vs Lesnar At UFC 91

Randy Couture Returns To The UFC Ending his 11-month departure from the UFC and the related legal battles, UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy "The Natural" Couture will step back into the Octagon at UFC 91, in a title defence against former professional wrestler Brock Lesnar.

The UFC 92 fight between UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira and Frank Mir will serve as a #1 contender's bout to face the winner of Couture vs Lesnar.

Kang Wins At Spirit MC 18

Denis Kang Destroys Jae Young Kim Again Rebounding from a pair of disappointing losses, former PRIDE star Denis "Super Korean" Kang made his first Spirit MC Heavyweight Championship title defence in nearly 17 months at Spirit MC 18, where he quickly knocked out Jae Young Kim.

The victory was Kang's third over Kim, whom he had previously defeated twice in Spirit MC. The wins have totalled a meagre 3:47, and it is unlikely that Kim will receive a fourth shot.

Jackson Charged, Pleads Not Guilty

Quinton Jackson Pleads Not Guilty Officially charged with two felony and four misdemeanour counts after his July 15th chase with police, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson pleaded not guilty to the charges and posted $25,000 bail on Thursday.

A pre-trial date was set for October 9th, while a pre-hearing of the case will take place on November 3rd. A judge presiding over the pre-hearing will decide whether or not the case goes to trial.

Shamrock vs Slice On CBS

Kimbo Slice Set To Battle Ken Shamrock Looking to rebound from a string of recent losses, former UFC and Pancrase legend Ken Shamrock will step up to take on prized EliteXC star Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson in the main event of EliteXC's October 4th primetime show on CBS.

The fight, which ends speculation of bouts featuring Slice against rising EliteXC star Brett "The Grim" Rogers and former street fighter Sean "The Cannon" Gannon, is a must-win for both men.

EliteXC Finalises October 4th CBS Card

Benji Radach To Face Murilo 'Ninja' Rua EliteXC has officially announced the remainder of the main card for their third event on CBS, which will see IFL veteran Benji Radach face Murilo "Ninja" Rua, while British knockout artist Paul "Semtex" Daley challenges Jake Shields.

Also, after first being announced for the October 4th event and then rescheduled, the women's bout between Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos and Yoko Takahashi will indeed take place on the card.

World Victory Road "Sengoku IV" Results

Takanori Gomi Defeats Seung Hwan Bang Continuing to impress, World Victory Road showcased the beginning of their debut Lightweight Grand Prix at "Sengoku IV" on a night that concluded with Japanese superstar Takanori "Fireball Kid" Gomi narrowly escaping with a decision victory.

Earlier in the night, final IFL Lightweight Champion Ryan "The Lion" Schultz was shockingly knocked out of the Grand Prix by a Superman Punch from multi-promotion champion Mizuto Hirota.

Two More "Affliction II" Showdowns

Chris Horodecki To Face Dan Lauzon In more additions to a great card, Affliction II: "Day of Reckoning" will now feature a lightweight battle of young guns, as Chris Horodecki battles Dan Lauzon, while final IFL Welterweight Champion Jay Hieron faces veteran Drew Fickett.

For Horodecki and Hieron, stars in the now-defunct International Fight League, the bouts will be opportunities to show why they were among the most coveted free agents coming from the IFL.

MacDonald vs Lambert Set For UFC 88

Jason MacDonald To Face Jason Lambert With fellow Albertan Jason "Dooms" Day injured, Jason "The Athlete" MacDonald will look to rebound from his thrilling UFC 87 defeat when he battles yet another Jason, Jason "The Punisher" Lambert, at UFC 88: "Breakthrough" on September 6th.

The bout marks Lambert's debut at middleweight, after suffering three knockout losses in his last four light heavyweight bouts, while MacDonald seeks to immediately avenge his UFC 87 defeat.

Belfort Injured, Off "Affliction II"

Vitor Belfort Suffers Hand Injury After suffering a broken hand that has failed to heal quickly, Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming bout with Matt "The Law" Lindland at Affliction II: "Day of Reckoning." A replacement has not been named.

The injury was originally sustained in Belfort's knockout victory over Terry Martin at Affliction's debut "Banned" event, and Belfort has not recovered quickly enough to compete against Lindland.

EliteXC Cancels September 20th Event

EliteXC Cancels September 20th Event Just days after announcing a pair of main event bouts for September 20th, EliteXC has cancelled the event, citing an injury suffered by John "The Natural" Alessio, who was slated to challenge new EliteXC Welterweight Champion Jake Shields.

Also scheduled for the card was a women's bout pitting Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos against Japanese veteran Yoko Takahashi, but the proposed fight is now apparently off entirely.

Misaki vs Riggs Set For Strikeforce

Kazuo Misaki To Face Joe Riggs Returning to the famed Playboy Mansion for the second time, Strikeforce has announced that the main event for "Strikeforce At The Mansion II" will pit Japanese superstar Kazuo "Grabaka Hitman" Misaki against UFC veteran Joe "Diesel" Riggs.

Set to take place on September 20th, the growing promotion's second venture into the legendary venue will look to duplicate the great success that "Strikeforce At The Mansion" had a year ago.

"Cyborg" Plans For EliteXC Return To CBS

Cristiane 'Cyborg' Santos Following her destruction of submission wizard Shayna Baszler on CBS last month, undefeated Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos looks ahead to EliteXC's return to CBS on October 4th, and plans for a future bout with EliteXC postergirl Gina Carano.

While Santos would relish a chance to battle Carano, she is content to compete elsewhere on the card, as Carano is currently slated to face Kelly Kobald in a featured bout that evening.

More Affliction II Fights Set

Vitor Belfort To Face Matt Lindland Adding to an already impressive card, Affliction has announced two more fights for "Day of Reckoning" on October 11th, including an exciting middleweight showdown between veterans Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort and Matt "The Law" Lindland.

Also announced was a heavyweight battle between final IFL Heavyweight Champion Roy "Big Country" Nelson and former UFC contender Paul "The Headhunter" Buentello.

UFC 87 Results & Recap

Georges St. Pierre Dominates Jon Fitch In their first foray into Minnesota, the Ultimate Fighting Championship put on a very solid event at UFC 87: Seek And Destroy, culminating in a successful and dominant title defence by UFC Welterweight Champion Georges "Rush" St. Pierre.

Also on the main card, Brock Lesnar and Kenny Florian picked up decision victories in their contender fights, while Demian Maia submitted Jason MacDonald in an excellent battle.

UFC 87 Predictions

Jon Fitch Aims To Dethrone Georges St. Pierre The Ultimate Fighting Championship invades Minnesota tonight, for UFC 87: Seek And Destroy, and MMARising.com breaks down the card, which features a UFC Welterweight Championship bout between Georges "Rush" St. Pierre and Jon Fitch.

Also on the card are a pair of contender bouts, with Roger "El Matador" Huerta taking on Kenny "KenFlo" Florian and Brock Lesnar facing "The Texas Crazy Horse" Heath Herring.

World Extreme Cagefighting 35 Results

Carlos Condit Retains WEC Welterweight Championship Having already put together a string of excellent cards so far this year, WEC 35 was more of the same, as Jamie Varner and Carlos Condit managed to retain their titles, while Steve Cantwell became the new WEC Light Heavyweight Champion.

Also on the card were a number of thrilling first-round stoppages that kept the crowd entertained all night before an epic battle in the main event between Condit and Hiromitsu Miura.

Affliction II Fights Announced

Andrei Arlovski To Face Josh Barnett With new WAMMA Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko sidelined due to a hand injury, Affliction: "Day of Reckoning" will be headlined by a #1 contender's bout between Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski and "The Babyface Assassin" Josh Barnett.

Also on the October 11th card will be a rematch between former PRIDE ace Antonio Rogerio "Minotoro" Nogueira and final IFL Light Heavyweight Champion Vladimir "The Janitor" Matyushenko.

EliteXC: "Unfinished Business" Results

Robbie Lawler Stops Scott Smith EliteXC's second foray on CBS featured much better fights than its debut show, but suffered a considerable drop in the ratings. Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva, Jake Shields and "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler all came away with championship belts.

Also on the card, in what was arguably the most exciting fight of the night, Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos battered "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler, en route to a second-round stoppage.

DREAM: Heiwa Dream.5 Results

Joachim Hansen Wins DREAM Lightweight Grand Prix DREAM's inaugural Lightweight Grand Prix concluded with a surprise tournament champion, as Joachim "Hellboy" Hansen stepped in to replace an injured Eddie Alvarez and knocked out Shinya "Tobikan Judan" Aoki in the final fight of the evening.

Alvarez had advanced to the finals earlier in the night, but suffered an eye injury in his victory over Tatsuya "Crusher" Kawajiri, leaving the alternate, Hansen, to take Alvarez's place.

Affliction: "Banned" Results

Fedor Emelianenko Dominates Tim Sylvia The debut event for the Affliction clothing company, aptly titled "Banned," was a huge success, with a complete card of exciting fights and top-ranked fighters. In the main event, Fedor Emelianenko quickly dispatched of Tim Sylvia.

Proving his doubters wrong, Emelianenko destroyed Sylvia, the former two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion, in just 36 seconds, capturing the WAMMA Heavyweight Championship in the process.

UFC: Silva vs Irvin Results

Anderson Silva Destroys James Irvin UFC's hastily assembled July 19th card was filled largely with lacklustre fights, but culminated in a very dominating victory for UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, in his debut at 205 pounds, with a quick knockout of James Irvin.

In an undercard bout that somewhat rescued the event from total mediocrity, former IFL star Rory Markham scored a highlight-reel head kick knockout over UFC newcomer Brodie Farber.

Quinton Jackson Arrested

Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson Arrested Former Undisputed UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson was arrested at gunpoint earlier today, following a high-speed chase in his custom lifted truck through the suburbs of California between Costa Mesa and Newport Beach.

Jackson allegedly collided with two cars at 19th Street and Newport Boulevard, then struck another vehicle during the subsequent five-minute chase from the scene, according to authorities.

SmackGIRL Postpones ReMix Final

SmackGIRL Postpones ReMix Final Amidst rumours of financial troubles due to the loss of a prominent sponsor, Japan's premier female mixed martial arts promotion, SmackGIRL, has postponed the finals of its 2008 World ReMix Tournament until later this fall.

The event is set to feature the 115-pound final between female phenom Megumi "Mega Megu" Fujii and Ana Michelle Tavares and the open-weight final between Hitomi Akano and Ginele Marquez.

Women's Bout Added To EliteXC On CBS

Shayna Baszler To Face Cristiane Santos After the success of the women's bout between Gina Carano and Kaitlin Young on their CBS debut, EliteXC has added an explosive female fight for July 26th, pitting "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler against undefeated Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos.

Santos (4-0-0) has won three of her four fights by first-round TKO, while Baszler (9-4-0) has won four straight fights, all by way of submission in round one.

Controversy In Mixed Martial Arts
