Jessica Penne vs Jéssica Andrade Announced For UFC 199 In JuneFormer Invicta FC champion Jessica Penne makes her long-awaited return to action on June 4th at UFC 199: “Rockhold vs Weidman 2” in Inglewood, California. Penne is set to face off against Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade, who will make her strawweight debut in the featured matchup.

UFC officials confirmed plans for the fight this week following an initial report from the L.A. Daily News. Penne has not fought since June 2015 when she was stopped by UFC champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk at UFC Fight Night 69. Andrade drops down to 115 pounds after suffering a loss at UFC 191.

Penne (12-3-0) became the inaugural Invicta FC Atomweight Champion by winning her second fight for the promotion in October 2012, but she relinquished her title to Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson at Invicta FC 5 six months later. After picking up one more victory, Penne signed with the UFC and advanced to the semi-finals of The Ultimate Fighter 20 before being defeated by eventual tournament winner Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza. Penne edged out fellow semi-finalist Randa “Quiet Storm” Markos at the TUF 20 Finale, but struggled against Jędrzejczyk and suffered a third-round TKO defeat.

Andrade (13-5-0) won nine of her first 11 fights between September 2011 and April 2013, and she earned a spot on the UFC women’s bantamweight roster by upsetting Russian standout Milana Dudieva at ProFC 47. Andrade’s first UFC fight ended in a disappointing TKO loss to former title challenger Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche, but she bounced back with a three-fight winning streak that included a close decision victory over Pennington. After going 1-1 in her first two fights in 2015, Andrade succumbed to a second-round rear-naked choke from Pennington in the pair’s rematch at UFC 191.

UFC 199: “Rockhold vs Weidman 2” takes place on June 4th at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The event is headlined by a UFC Middleweight Championship rematch between champion Luke Rockhold and former titleholder “All-American” Chris Weidman.
