Megumi Fujii, Rin Nakai Victorious At SRC; Akano vs Modafferi ScrappedJapanese stars Megumi “Mega Megu” Fujii and Rin Nakai both picked up convincing victories tonight at the all-day Sengoku Raiden Championship: “Soul of Fight” event in Tokyo, Japan. Fujii earned a dominant decision win over Emi Fujino, while Nakai submitted journeywoman Mika “Hari” Harigai.

Two other women’s MMA bouts were planned for the card, but only one took place. Veteran Misaki Takimoto narrowly edged Amy “Lil’ Dynamite” Davis in a two-round battle, while a fight between Hitomi “Girlfight Monster” Akano and Roxanne “The Happy Warrior” Modafferi was scrapped due to illness.

Faber-Wineland, Schaub-Cro Cop Planned For UFC 128More fights are in the works for the upcoming UFC 128 event on March 19th. Former WEC champions Urijah Faber and Eddie Wineland are expected to compete in a bantamweight bout on the card, while Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub takes on Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipović in heavyweight action.

MMAFighting.com was first to report on the Faber-Wineland matchup, while Fighters Only first listed the Schaub-Filipović bout. Schaub had previously been rumoured to be facing either Stefan Struve or former champ Frank Mir, but neither fight materialised and he will now battle the ex-PRIDE legend.

Alistair Overeem vs Todd Duffee Official For K-1 Dynamite!! 2010A long-rumoured heavyweight bout between Strikeforce and K-1 champion Alistair Overeem and former UFC prospect Todd Duffee has been officially confirmed for K-1 Dynamite!! 2010 on New Year’s Eve. The late addition to the card was announced today and will now be a DREAM title fight.

Overeem most recently became the first man to hold major titles in K-1 and MMA at the same time when he won three fights in one night to become K-1 Grand Prix Champion. He remains the Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion as well and enters the bout with Duffee as a significant favourite.

Dan Hardy vs Anthony Johnson Targeted For March UFCA welterweight bout between former UFC title challenger Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy and hard-hitting striker Anthony “Rumble” Johnson is in the works for next March. MMAjunkie.com reports that the matchup will likely serve as the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 24 on March 26th in Seattle.

Hardy is coming off of the first knockout loss of his career and finds himself on a two-fight losing skid for only the second time. Johnson has not fought in over a year since falling to recent title challenger Josh Koscheck, but a victory over Hardy could move him one step closer to contender status.

Jessica Eye vs Justine Kish Planned For Ring Of Combat 34North American Allied Fight Series standout Jessica “Evil” Eye is expected to make her Ring of Combat debut against fellow prospect Justine Kish at ROC 34 on February 4, 2011. The bout, which has not yet been officially announced, will reportedly be contested between 125 and 130 pounds.

Eye, who has thus far spent her entire career in NAAFS and has yet to taste defeat, decisioned Marissa “Shorty” Caldwell in the main event of the all-female “Eve of Destruction” card in September. Kish won her pro debut earlier this month by upsetting Munah Holland at Ring of Combat 33.

Barb Honchak To Face Felice Herrig At HFC 6 In JanuaryTwo of the top prospects in the 125-pound women’s division will square off in the co-main event of Hoosier Fight Club 6 on January 14, 2011. Barb “Little Warrior” Honchak, who recently took part in the Ultimate Women Challenge competition, will face Bellator veteran Felice “Lil Bulldog” Herrig.

The featured bout will be Honchak’s first fight in just short of one year. She dropped a competitive decision to Ring of Fire champ Cat “Alpha” Zingano last January. Herrig, meanwhile, has won three straight fights and is coming off of a first-round submission of Amanda LaVoy earlier this month.
