A catchweight bout between teen prospect “12 Gauge” Paige VanZant and Courtney Himes has been added to this Saturday’s Bush Cree Promotions: “Cage Wars 15” event in Grand Junction, Colorado. VanZant and Himes are expected to face off at 124 pounds on the professional portion of the card.

MMARising.com confirmed plans for the bout with multiple sources close to the fight today. VanZant looks to rebound from her first loss at the hands of unbeaten rising star Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres at Invicta FC 4. Himes makes her pro debut and she will have the hometown crowd on her side.

VanZant (2-1-0) is no stranger to short-notice fight opportunities. This past summer, she twice entered hostile territory on days’ notice and picked up decision victories over Texans Jordan Nicole Gaza and Amber Stautzenberger. In January, VanZant made her Invicta FC debut against the highly-touted Torres, but dropped a Unanimous Decision on the scorecards after three action-packed rounds.

Against Himes (0-0-0), VanZant once again steps in on short notice to battle a local favourite, but this time she will hold an experience advantage over her opponent. Himes faces a tough test in her debut, but a win over VanZant would immediately put the newcomer on the map as a prospect to watch for.
