Rosi Sexton Plans Return At CWFC 37 In MayThe world’s top-ranked 125-pound female fighter, Rosi Sexton, is looking to return to mixed martial arts action at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 37: “Right To Fight” on May 22nd. The event will take place at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England and features multiple title fights.

The promotion announced the planned bouts on its website today. No opponent has been named for Sexton yet, but the former BodogFIGHT star will compete for the first time in her native England since late 2005. She last fought for Bellator Fighting Championships in June.

Sexton (10-1-0) won her first five fights in England, including three for CWFC, before travelling to the United States in 2006. She moved up in weight to face future EliteXC and Strikeforce star Gina “Conviction” Carano on September 15, 2006, but was defeated late in the second round. Sexton has since won five straight fights and picked up big victories over Carina “Beauty But The Beast” Damm in 2006 and Debi “Whiplash” Purcell in 2008. She made her Bellator debut last June and submitted “Vicious” Valerie Coolbaugh in the first round.

Known primarily for her excellent submission game, including six wins via armbar, Sexton rose to the top of the 125-pound ranks over the past few years and has travelled all over the world to challenge the best that the sport has to offer. Already the top female fighter in England and holder of the CWFC Women’s 125-Pound Championship, Sexton will compete in front of her hometown fans in May for the first time in well over four years. She is also likely to be part of the planned Bellator 115-pound women’s tournament, which is rumoured to be targeted for August.

Other bouts on the CWFC 37 card include a pair of title tilts. Paul McVeigh will defend his CWFC Bantamweight Championship against Frank “Sharp” Sharipov, while Alexandre “Xandinho” Izidro puts his CWFC Lightweight Championship on the line against Greg “The Hitman” Loughran. A four-man welterweight tournament will also be held to determine the next CWFC Welterweight Champion. The belt was vacated by current UFC star Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy.
