Rose Namajunas vs Tecia Torres Added To Invicta FC 6 CardProspects “Thug” Rose Namajunas and Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres will face off in a featured strawweight bout at Invicta Fighting Championships 6. AXS TV’s Inside MMA first reported on the Namajunas-Torres matchup tonight. Invicta FC 6 is targeted for July 13th in Kansas City, Missouri.

Namajunas is coming off of a 12-second highlight-reel flying armbar victory at Invicta FC 5 earlier this month. She has yet to taste defeat in six career MMA bouts. Torres is also unbeaten in her nine-fight career and she most recently earned an impressive Unanimous Decision victory at Invicta FC 4.

Namajunas (2-0-0 pro; 6-0-0 MMA) kicked off her pro career for Invicta FC in January, where she took home Submission of the Night honours for her third-round rear-naked choke victory over the previously unbeaten Emily Kagan. The charismatic 20-year-old built up a considerable fanbase following her victory, thanks to a series of comedic and entertaining videos filmed with her boyfriend, popular UFC heavyweight Pat Barry. On April 5th, Namajunas fought through an ankle injury that she had sustained during training and submitted Kathina “Kill Switch” Catron with the spectacular flying armbar to earn her second straight Submission of the Night bonus.

Torres (2-0-0 pro; 9-0-0 MMA) rose to the top of the 115-pound amateur rankings with seven victories in a span of fewer than ten months. She turned pro at Invicta FC 3 in October against fellow amateur standout Kaiyana Rain and walked away with a well-deserved Unanimous Decision win. At Invicta FC 4 in January, Torres battled another bright prospect, “12 Gauge” Paige VanZant, and put on one of her most impressive performances to date en route to another commanding decision win. An experienced striker, Torres will make her pro kickboxing debut next month before stepping back into the MMA cage in search of the biggest victory of her young career.

The winner of the bout between Namajunas and Torres will take a big step up the ladder towards title contention in the competitive 115-pound division.

Invicta Fighting Championships 6 is targeted for July 13th in Kansas City, Missouri, though the date and location have not yet been officially confirmed. The event is headlined by an Invicta FC Featherweight Championship rematch between Marloes “Rumina” Coenen and Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino. Invicta FC Strawweight Champion Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza defends against unbeaten Jewels titleholder Ayaka Hamasaki, and Mizuki Inoue takes on Bec “Rowdy” Hyatt.
