Stephanie Frausto To Face Amy Davis At Invicta FC 3Rising atomweight star Stephanie “Macaquinha” Frausto faces fellow Muay Thai practitioner Amy “Lil’ Dynamite” Davis in a featured 105-pound matchup at Invicta Fighting Championships 3 on October 6th in Kansas City, Kansas. MMARising.com confirmed plans for the fight earlier today.

Frausto earned her biggest win to date in May when she submitted Diana “Dynamite” Rael to become the first Women’s FC titleholder at 105 pounds. Davis stopped Nicdali “The Night Queen” Rivera-Calanoc at Invicta FC 1 and she now looks to rebound from a submission setback this past month.

Frausto (3-4-0) battled inconsistency early in her MMA career, but she has faced formidable opposition in each of her past four fights. Since relocating to Ohio to train alongside sister Zoila and brother-in-law Jorge Gurgel, Frausto has shown tremendous improvement in her overall skills. She battled unbeaten strawweight prospect Ashley “Smashley” Cummins to a razor-thin decision loss in January before making the drop down to atomweight in May. The move paid dividends and Frausto controlled the brief fight with Rael on the feet and on the ground before locking on an armbar for the title victory. Her newly-refined ground game could prove to be the key to defeating Davis in October.

Davis (3-3-0, 1 NC) has also endured ups and downs in her short MMA career, but she too has shown steady improvement over the past year. After a controversial decision loss to Misaki Takimoto in late 2010, Davis battled back with a 63-second stoppage of Meghan “The Babe” Wright this past October. She made it two in a row with a second-round submission victory over Rivera-Calanoc at Invicta FC 1 in April and had looked to be on the brink of contender status at 105 pounds. However, a first-round submission loss to grappling ace Lisa Ellis in July halted Davis’s momentum for the time being and she now looks to get back on the winning track at Frausto’s expense.

Invicta Fighting Championships 3 takes place on October 6th at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. The event is headlined by an Invicta FC Atomweight Championship bout between Jessica Penne and Naho “Sugi Rock” Sugiyama.
