Felice Herrig vs Simona Soukupova Planned For XFC 19After an impressive victory in April, Felice “Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig returns to the XFC cage at Xtreme Fighting Championships 19: “Charlotte Showdown” on August 3rd in Charlotte, North Carolina. Herrig faces off against England’s Simona Soukupova. The 115-pound bout was announced by Herrig today.

Herrig enters the fight after earning a dominant Unanimous Decision win over “Little” Patricia Vidonic at XFC 17 on April 13th. The talented striker has won six of her past eight. Soukupova opened career with a pair of TKO triumphs in 2010 and now looks to rebound from her first professional loss.

Herrig (6-4-0) put on one of her most impressive performances to date against Vidonic. She controlled prolonged stretches of the fight on the ground, where most expected that Vidonic would hold a decided advantage. Since making the drop down to 115 pounds, Herrig has tasted defeat just once, which came in a December bout with standout wrestler Carla Esparza. Herrig has developed a well-rounded skill set and looks for her second straight win under the XFC banner when she faces Soukupova in August.

Soukupova (2-1-0) made a name for herself as a prospect to watch after earning stoppage victories in her first two fights. She took a step up in competition in August and dropped a Unanimous Decision to then-unbeaten Karla Benitez of Spain. Soukupova has not fought since the bout with Benitez and ring rust could play a factor when she makes her U.S. debut against Herrig. Much like Herrig, Soukupova sports a solid all-around game, but she will give up an experience advantage to her veteran opponent.

Xtreme Fighting Championships 19: “Charlotte Showdown” takes place on August 3rd at Grady Cole Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event airs live on HDNet.
