Rosi Sexton vs Aisling Daly Official For CWFC 47 On June 2A battle between Europe’s top female fighters, Rosi “The Surgeon” Sexton and Aisling “Ais The Bash” Daly, is now official for Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 47 on June 2nd. The CWFC 125-pound women’s tournament semi-final is set to take place in Daly’s hometown of Dublin, Ireland.

Sexton and Daly were initially slated to face off in early May, but the bout was pushed back until June when Cage Warriors shifted its 2012 event schedule. The fighters will now compete in the biggest women’s bout in European MMA history, with the winner advancing on to face Sheila Gaff.

Sexton (12-2-0) enters hostile territory for the showdown with Daly, but the veteran grappler brings a wealth of experience into the fight and she has already battled many of the sport’s biggest names. Ring rust may play a factor for Sexton, however, as she has not fought since a February 2011 victory over Roxanne Modafferi. A concussion in training forced Sexton out of a July 2011 CWFC title bout with Gaff, but she will receive another chance to face the German knockout artist if she is able to get past Daly on June 2nd. Sexton holds seven wins by submission, but it was her much-improved ground and pound skills that yielded a November 2010 TKO stoppage victory over “Slick” Sally Krumdiack.

Daly (13-2-0) has been much more active than Sexton in recent years, but she too will be returning to action after a health ailment forced her to withdraw from a fight. The reigning NAAFS 125-pound women’s champion had been scheduled to defend her title in a rematch with Jessica “Evil” Eye this Friday night at Bellator 66, but an ear infection left Daly unable to compete. She will instead take time off to recover before facing Sexton in June. A victory for Daly would set up a rematch with Gaff in the tournament final. Gaff dispatched of Daly in just 94 seconds at Cage Warriors 41, but Daly has won three straight fights since then; all by way of submission.

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 47 takes place on June 2nd at The Helix in Dublin, Ireland. The bout between Sexton and Daly is the second of two Cage Warriors 125-pound women’s tournament semi-final matchups. The winner will face Sheila “The German Tank” Gaff later this year to crown the first Cage Warriors 125-pound women’s champion.

  1. Rosi wins a tough decision.

  2. Ais to win round 1 sub all the way.

  3. Great fight. I think Rosi will win this.

  4. I mean, Lisa Ward (a smaller grappler) gave the great Aislin some serious trouble. I think Rosi is actually stronger and a better wrestler…!

  5. ufc-math doesn’t work Rafael.
    Styles make fights.
