Angela Magana Confirms Fight With Rosi SextonTwo of the top female fighters in the world will square off when Angela Magana travels to Birmingham, England to challenge Rosi Sexton at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 37: “Right To Fight” on May 22nd. Magana confirmed plans for the 115-pound bout today and Sexton’s CWFC 125-Pound Women’s Championship will not be on the line.

Sexton has not lost in well over three years and is currently ranked at number one in the 125-pound super flyweight division. Magana has won five of her last seven fights and will face her toughest test to date.

Magana (8-4-0) debuted in mixed martial arts in early 2007 and won four of her first six fights. She is the only woman to have defeated current FCF champ Lynn Alvarez and also holds a victory over former FCF title contender Nicdali “The Night Queen” Rivera-Calanoc. Magana advanced to the finals of the 2009 HOOKnSHOOT/GFight Women’s Grand Prix before dropping a decision to the undefeated Lisa Higo of Manchester, England. She has won two of her three fights since then and most recently faced another undefeated prospect, Jessica Pene. With well-rounded ground and striking skills, Magana will pose a solid test for Sexton in her return.

Sexton (10-1-0), also a native of Manchester, has thus far dominated the 125-pound division. Her lone defeat came in a 2006 bout with Gina “Conviction” Carano, with Sexton moving up in weight for the fight. Since then, Sexton has reeled off five straight victories against some of the best in the division. She upset Brazilian star Carina “Beauty But The Beast” Damm in late 2006 and later defeated both “Windy” Tomomi Sunaba and Julia Berezikova in BodogFIGHT. Coming off of back-to-back wins over Debi “Whiplash” Purcell and “Vicious” Valerie Coolbaugh, the submission ace will look to build momentum with a win over Magana before returning to Bellator Fighting Championships.

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 37: “Right To Fight” takes place on May 22nd at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England. The card features numerous title fights and also includes a second women’s bout between Sarah Moras and Helena Martin.
