Jessica Aguilar Victorious In Fight Time Promotions 8 HeadlinerBellator star Jessica “Jag” Aguilar posted her fourth straight victory tonight with a convincing Unanimous Decision win over Oregon-based prospect “Little” Patricia Vidonic. The 115-pound women’s bout headlined Fight Time Promotions 8 at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Aguilar employed an effective game plan that consisted of takedowns and ground and pound throughout the fight. She prevented Vidonic from getting back to her feet by kicking at her legs. Vidonic worked for submissions, but was unable to get anything going and Aguilar took the clear-cut decision.

Aguilar (13-4-0) set the tone of the fight early on by taking Vidonic (6-2-0) down to the mat. She tried to pass Vidonic’s guard, but Vidonic defended well from her back and eventually postured for an armbar. Aguilar stood up to escape and kicked at Vidonic’s legs as time ticked down in the opening round.

It was more of the same early in round two. Aguilar took Vidonic down and landed punches before standing up and once again kicking at her opponent’s legs. The fighters were stood up and Aguilar landed one of her best punches of the fight before catching a kick and tripping Vidonic to the mat. Aguilar closed out the round on top in side control.

Seemingly down two rounds to zero, Vidonic tried to pull guard in the final round, but Aguilar stayed up and resumed kicking at Vidonic’s legs. Vidonic stood up, only to be taken down repeatedly throughout the round. Aguilar kicked at Vidonic’s thighs and ankles and tried to pass back to side control in the final minute. Vidonic easily made it to the bell, but the bout’s outcome was clear.

With the victory tonight, Aguilar has positioned herself for a showdown with pound-for-pound standout Megumi “Mega Megu” Fujii later this year. Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney confirmed to MMARising.com in late January that the bout is already in the works, but a date and location remain to be determined.

Winner: Jessica Aguilar by Unanimous Decision after three rounds. She improves to 13-4-0.
