Amanda Lucas Stops Hikaru Shinohara At DEEP: 55 ImpactAmanda “Powerhouse” Lucas, the adopted daughter of Star Wars creator George Lucas, earned her second mixed martial arts victory this evening at DEEP: “55 Impact” in Tokyo, Japan. Lucas defeated pro wrestler and MMA veteran Hikaru Shinohara by technical submission due to an armbar.

The 30-year-old Lucas took her opponent down to the mat in the opening round and threatened with submissions before using punches to set up the armbar. A dejected Shinohara did not tap, but her corner threw in the towel and an elated Lucas was awarded with the victory in her Japanese debut.

After an early exchange of strikes, Lucas (2-1-0) looked to take the fight to the mat, but she was unable to mount any offence and the fighters were stood up. Shinohara (6-8-0) landed a front kick and Lucas took her down. Lucas then moved to mount and worked for arm-triangle chokes as Shinohara tried to roll to her side. Lucas postured up and rained down big punches before transitioning to the armbar. Shinohara’s corner threw in the towel to stop the fight.

A visibly upset Shinohara was not pleased with her corner’s decision to end the fight, but the victory was a solid one for Lucas, who has quickly developed into a bona fide star in Japan. Following the fight, Lucas expressed interest in returning to DEEP; possibly as early as October.

Winner: Amanda Lucas by Technical Submission (Armbar) at 4:37 of round one. She improves to 2-1-0.
