Lisa Ward Chokes Out Stephanie Frausto At Bellator 22It took just over two minutes for veteran submission ace Lisa Ward to choke out a much less experienced Stephanie “Macaquinha” Frausto tonight at Bellator Fighting Championships 22. The end came just 2:01 into the fight, as Frausto refused to tap out and was choked unconscious.

Ward entered the fight with a 14-fight edge in experience and it showed right from the opening bell, as she overwhelmed Frausto and dominated on the ground. Ward now joins six other announced signings for the upcoming Bellator 115-pound women’s tournament in August.

Ward (13-5-0) took Frausto (2-2-0) down early on with an emphatic slam near the cage and worked from the California native’s guard. She passed to side-control and then moved straight to mount. Frausto seemed to have little answer for Ward on the ground, as the Seattle standout took Frausto’s back and secured a tight neck crank. She released the hold as Frausto rolled to her side, but quickly trapped Frausto in a rear-naked choke. Frausto had nowhere to go, but refused to submit. She was choked unconscious, giving Ward a quick victory in her first fight in just shy of one year.

Result: Lisa Ward defeats Stephanie Frausto by Technical Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 2:01 of round one. She improves to 13-5-0 and will be part of the Bellator 115-Pound Women’s Tournament.
