Sarah Kaufman Defeats Sara Schneider

Kaufman Wins At PFC

by Robert Sargent

After finding herself without a fight for the past 13 months, undefeated Canadian star Sarah Kaufman stepped back into action at PFC: Best of Both Worlds 2, where she scored an impressive TKO victory over Sara Schneider in the second round.

The victory brought Kaufman's record to a perfect 8-0-0, with all wins coming by a form of knockout. It was her first fight since the demise of Hardcore Championship Fighting.

Universally regarded as the top female fighter in Canada, the lack of competition north of the border forced Kaufman to look south in 2008, and she was set to face dangerous striker Kaitlin Young in EliteXC last October. However, the bout was cancelled when the promotion folded. A similar situation had transpired earlier in the year, when Hardcore Championship Fighting, where Kaufman reigned as the Women's Bantamweight Champion, ceased operations.

In her fight against Schneider, who had submitted Young in a bout in February of 2008, Kaufman simply overwhelmed her opponent with punches. As has become her custom, Kaufman's relentless offence was too much for Schneider, as she battered her with strikes on the feet and on the ground.

Following a series of unanswered punches in round two, the referee stepped in and stopped the fight. Kaufman takes the win by TKO (Punches) at 1:43 of round two and improves her record to 8-0-0.

Already looking to get back into action, Kaufman is set to compete in an upcoming Strikeforce event, though a date and opponent have yet to be officially announced.
