YAMMA - Pit Fighting 1 Results

In the inaugural one-night tournament from YAMMA Pit Fighting, Travis Wiuff emerged victorious in the battle of the heavyweights, defeating Marcelo Pereira, Ricco Rodriguez and Chris Tuscherer en route to the tournament crown.
Also, in a non-tournament "Master" fight between MMA legends, "The Russian Bear" Oleg Taktarov submitted Mark "The Titan" Kerr with his famous kneebar submission hold.
YAMMA Tournament Bouts
In the first quarter-final bout, all of which were contested using one five-minute round, Alexey Oleinik defeated Sherman Pendergarst by Submission (Forearm Choke) at 4:22 of round one.The second quarter-final bout saw Chris Tuscherer defeat Tony Sylvester by Unanimous Decision after one round.
In the third quarter-final bout, former UFC and PRIDE competitor Travis "Diesel" Wiuff defeated Marcelo Pereira by Unanimous Decision after one round.
The fourth and final quarter-final bout saw former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco "Suave" Rodriguez defeat George Bush - not to be confused with the American president of the same name - by Unanimous Decision after one round.
In the first semi-final tournament bout, Chris Tuscherer defeated Alexey Oleinik by Unanimous Decision after one round to advance to the finals.
The second semi-final bout saw somewhat of an upset, as Travis "Diesel" Wiuff defeated Ricco "Suave" Rodriguez by Unanimous Decision after one round and advanced to the finals.
In the tournament final bout, Travis "Diesel" Wiuff defeated Chris Tuscherer by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 52-11-0 and becomes the first YAMMA Heavyweight Tournament Champion.
"Master" Fights
In the first of two showdowns between legends of the sport, "The Russian Bear" Oleg Taktarov defeated Mark "The Titan" Kerr by Submission (Kneebar) at 1:55 of round one. It marks the fourth straight fight that Taktarov has won by way of kneebar, dating back to 1998 before his initial retirement. He improves his record to 16-5-2 with the win.In the second battle of MMA legends, UFC veteran Patrick Smith defeated Eric "Butterbean" Esch by Submission (Strikes) at 3:17 of round one. He improves to 15-13-0 with the win.
YAMMA Tournament Reserve Bouts
In the first of two alternate bouts for the tournament, Lamont Lister defeated Oleg Savitsky by TKO (Punches) at 0:33 of round one.In the second alternate bout, Bryan Vetell narrowly defeated Antwain Britt by a close but Unanimous Decision after one round.
It was announced that YAMMA 2, featuring a middleweight tournament and "Master" fights between both male and female competitors, will take place on June 21st. While it may have been a debut event, YAMMA 1 was definitely a success.
