EliteXC's CBS Debut Announced

EliteXC will make its debut on primetime CBS television on May 31st at 9:00 P.M. Eastern and Pacific, with a live event featuring an EliteXC Middleweight Championship bout and also the return of Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson.

The inaugural EliteXC Saturday Night Fights event on CBS will be broadcast from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

CBS Primetime Senior Executive Vice President Kelly Kahl expressed excitement at bringing mixed martial arts, America's fastest-growing sport, to primetime network viewers, stating that EliteXC is putting together an event featuring "unique personalities, world-class athleticism and raw power and emotion that characterises mixed martial arts."

The main event for the debut CBS show will be an EliteXC Middleweight Championship bout between champion "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler and challenger Scott "Hands of Steel" Smith. Also competing on the card will be EliteXC sensation, and former street fighter, Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson.

EliteXC Live Events President Gary Shaw stated that he was very happy for the opportunity for his fighters to compete on network television, and also for the viewers who will get to see that MMA requires an abundance of skill and talents in order to be successful.


The event will be produced by Showtime Sports.
