EliteXC Acquires King of the Cage

In a press release earlier today, EliteXC has announced the acquisition of the California-based King of the Cage organisation.

As noted in the release, King of the Cage was responsible for showcasing fighters such as Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Ricco Rodriguez, Rashad Evans, Joe Stevenson and Urijah Faber early on in their respective careers.


Prior to 2007, King of the Cage drew the largest cumulative live audience per year of any MMA organisation in North America.

With the recent acquisition by EliteXC of Cage Rage (Europe), Rumble on the Rock (Hawaii), ICON Sport and SpiritMC (Korea), the addition of King of the Cage to its stable further solidifies EliteXC's place as a potential major player in MMA in the coming years.


EliteXC's most recent event, Uprising, took place this past Saturday. The main event featured a Middleweight Championship bout between champion Murilo "Ninja" Rua and "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler.

Undercard fights featured Nick Diaz vs Mike Aina, Joey Villasenor vs Riki Fukuda, Jake Shields vs Renato Verissimo and a women's bout between standout fighter Gina Carano and Tonya Evinger.
