The second annual Shoot Boxing JKS48 high school girls’ tournament kicks off on Saturday night at Shoot Boxing 2013: Act.2 in Tokyo, Japan. 2012 JKS48 champion Mio Tsumura takes on one-time Jewels competitor Fuka Yoshino in one of two quarterfinal matchups announced on Thursday.
In a second quarterfinal bout, 2012 semi-finalist Yusa Tachi returns to action to face Yuuki Kira, who also took part in the inaugural 48kg tournament this past year. The winners of Saturday’s bouts will advance on to the next round in August, where the tournament champion must win twice in one night.

Bantamweight veteran Julie “Fireball” Kedzie is set to make her Octagon debut on July 27th at UFC on FOX 8 in Seattle, Washington. Kedzie will face Muay Thai sensation Germaine “The Iron Lady” de Randamie in a bout that was first planned for a Strikeforce Challengers event in September 2011.
UFC officials announced the matchup today. Kedzie has maintained her role as an announcer for Invicta FC while recovering from a shoulder injury that she sustained in her Strikeforce bout with Miesha “Cupcake” Tate in August. De Randamie earned a Unanimous Decision win on the same August card.

Brazilian rising star Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade earned the biggest win of her career on Sunday night in a featured bantamweight bout at ProFC 47 in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. Andrade submitted veteran Russian standout Milana Dudieva with a guillotine choke late in the second and final round.
Andrade dropped Dudieva early in the fight and she controlled the action on the ground with strikes and submission attempts. As a fatigued Dudieva slowed down in round two, Andrade scored with punching combinations and pulled guard with a tight guillotine choke that forced Dudieva to submit.

UFC newcomer “Alpha” Cat Zingano may have experienced the Octagon jitters early in her fight tonight, but she rallied to score the biggest win of her career at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada. Zingano stopped former Strikeforce champion Miesha “Cupcake” Tate in round three.
It was Tate who dominated the action in the opening round on the feet and on the mat, but Zingano began to settle down in the middle stanza and she appeared to narrowly steal the round. After stuffing a takedown in round three, Zingano landed three big knees and an elbow for the TKO victory.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada tonight for The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale. Tonight’s card was headlined by a bantamweight contender’s bout between “The California Kid” Urijah Faber and Scott “Young Guns” Jorgensen.

Scottish knockout artist Joanne “JoJo” Calderwood picked up another impressive victory tonight in front of her hometown fans at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 53 in Glasgow, Scotland. Calderwood stopped American veteran “Slick” Sally Krumdiack with punches in the first round.
Calderwood pressed the action with kicks, but Krumdiack was game and she landed some nice counter combinations. A Calderwood uppercut spelled the beginning of the end for Krumdiack, however, and Calderwood swarmed with more punches until the action-packed bout was stopped.

Invicta FC Strawweight Champion Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza will defend her title for the first time at Invicta Fighting Championships 6 in the summer. Esparza is expected to face Jewels Lightweight Queen Champion Ayaka Hamasaki on the card, which is targeted for late June or mid-July.
MMARising.com confirmed plans for the title fight with sources close to the negotiations on Friday. The matchup is subject to commission approval. Esparza captured the belt by defeating late replacement Bec “Rowdy” Hyatt in January. Hamasaki made a successful Invicta FC debut this past July.

Top Japanese prospect Mizuki Inoue will make her North American debut at Invicta Fighting Championships 6 in the summer. Inoue has agreed to face popular Australian rising star Bec “Rowdy” Hyatt in a featured strawweight bout on the event’s main card, which is targeted for late June or mid-July.
MMARising.com confirmed plans for the 115-pound fight with sources close to the negotiations on Friday. The bout is subject to commission approval. Inoue is one of the most gifted female fighters in Japan today, but she faces a tough test in Hyatt, who has impressed in both of her fights for Invicta FC.
