Four Fighters Earn Bonuses At Invicta Fighting Championships 4Invicta Fighting Championships staged its fourth all-female fight card tonight at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas, and four fighters pocketed bonus money. A bantamweight rematch between Alexis “Ally-Gator” Davis and Shayna “The Queen of Spades” Baszler earned Fight of the Night honours.

Davis and Baszler will each take home an additional $1500. The Invicta FC 4 Knockout of the Night award went to hard-hitting featherweight Veronica “The Heartbreaker” Rothenhausler, while highly-touted strawweight “Thug” Rose Namajaunas won Submission of the Night. Both earn an extra $1000.

Davis (13-5-0) and Baszler (15-8-0) first faced off in a hotly-contested bout for Freestyle Cage Fighting in March 2010. Baszler won the first fight via a razor-thin decision and tonight’s rematch was a competitive battle through two rounds. Davis threatened with numerous submissions during the fight, including a rear-naked choke and heel hooks in round one and an omoplata and a triangle choke in round two.

Baszler defended well and landed some solid shots on the feet, but Davis took advantage of a slip in round three and hopped on Baszler’s back. Davis was able to lock on a rear-naked choke and used it to choke Baszler unconscious at the 58-second mark of the third round. Davis has earned impressive submission wins in both of her fights for Invicta FC against highly-skilled grapplers.

The spirited back-and-forth bout was good enough to be named Fight of the Night.

Early in the night, Rothenhausler (1-0-0) proved that her back-to-back five-second KO victories in the amateur ranks were no fluke. The 23-year-old knocked out fellow striker Katalina Malungahu (2-2-0) with a single right hand and made a successful pro debut in the process. The fighters traded big punches right away and both landed some hard shots, but it was Rothenhausler’s right cross that finished the fight at the 1:12 mark of round one and earned her the Knockout of the Night.

Also making her pro debut, Namajunas (1-0-0) capped off a strong first two rounds by submitting Emily Kagan (2-1-0) with a rear-naked choke. Namajunas chained submissions together in round one and effortlessly moved from triangle chokes to armbars to Kimuras, but Kagan was game. Later in the fight, Namajunas reversed a clinch and jumped on Kagan’s back, then used the rear-naked choke to drag Kagan to the mat. Kagan had nowhere to go and tapped out at the 3:44 mark of round three, giving Namajunas the Submission of the Night.
