UFC On FX 3: “Johnson vs McCall 2” Live Play-By-Play & ResultsThe Ultimate Fighting Championship made its way to BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida tonight for UFC on FX 3: “Johnson vs McCall 2.” The event was headlined by a UFC flyweight tournament semi-final rematch between Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Ian “Uncle Creepy” McCall.

Also on tonight’s main card, Erick “Indio” Silva faced Charlie “The Spaniard” Brenneman in welterweight action, while Mike “Quicksand” Pyle took on fellow veteran Josh “The Dentist” Neer in a second matchup at 170 pounds. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for tonight’s UFC on FX 3 card.


UFC Flyweight Tournament Semi-Final

Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson vs Ian “Uncle Creepy” McCall

Round 1:
The fight began with an exchange of leg kicks and Johnson pressed McCall up against the cage. He dropped levels and dumped McCall to the mat. McCall stood and landed a knee. Johnson broke away from the clinch with a standing elbow. McCall threw a three-punch combo as Johnson circled on the outside with leg kicks and right hooks. Punches were exchanged in close and Johnson dropped McCall with a counter right.

McCall recovered quickly on the ground and Johnson worked from the top in his guard. McCall stood and Johnson took his back. McCall spun into the clinch and avoided a takedown attempt. More leg kicks were exchanged and Johnson landed a short right cross. McCall pushed forward and Johnson landed more punches. McCall flurried to the body in a clinch and Johnson broke away with a knee. He landed a body kick before the bell. 10-9 Johnson.

Round 2:
McCall took Johnson down early in the second round, but he could not keep him on the mat. Punches were exchanged in close and McCall backed Johnson up with an uppercut. McCall landed a knee to the body in a clinch and Johnson reversed against the cage. The fighters separated and Johnson threw a quick one-two. He stayed on the outside and kicked at McCall’s legs. Time was called after Johnson was kicked in the groin. Action resumed with more leg kicks from both fighters and McCall took Johnson down for a split second.

McCall took Johnson’s back on the feet and suplexed him to the mat. Johnson stood and backed away. He flurried with punches and pressed McCall against the fence. McCall reversed and countered knees to the body with a spinning back elbow. Johnson punched his way into a clinch and McCall broke away with a combination to the body. McCall landed kicks and used a leg-sweep takedown to trip Johnson just before the bell. Close second round. 10-9 McCall.

Round 3:
The final round began with a clinch against the cage. McCall tried to trip Johnson to the mat, but Johnson stayed on his feet. McCall threw knees to the body and Johnson took him down against the cage. McCall stood and Johnson took his back. Johnson threw a right hook and circled out. McCall flurried with punches and tried for a takedown. Johnson defended and McCall landed a knee.

More punches were exchanged in close and McCall again backed Johnson up to the fence. McCall landed a flurry of punches and Johnson answered right back with one of his own. Johnson scored with a right hook and a front kick to the body. McCall clinched up and threw knees. Johnson landed a right cross and dropped levels for a takedown. McCall stayed up and the fight ended in a clinch. 10-9 Johnson.

Winner: Demetrious Johnson by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 15-2-1 and advances to the UFC Flyweight Tournament Final.


Erick “Indio” Silva vs Charlie “The Spaniard” Brenneman

Round 1:
Silva landed big knees right away as Brenneman clinched for a takedown. Silva landed a spinning back kick and Brenneman tried to drag him to the mat. He got him down and moved to back control as Silva stood up. Silva countered a takedown by rolling for a heel hook. Brenneman scrambled up and pressed Silva against the cage. The fighters were separated and Silva landed a body kick.

Brenneman pushed forward with a right hook and took Silva down after Silva threw a jumping knee. Silva stood and Brenneman pinned him against the cage again. The fighters were separated once more and Silva landed punches. He threw a spinning back kick to the body and two more kicks seconds later. Silva countered a takedown by taking Brenneman’s back on the ground. He sunk in both hooks and locked on a rear-naked choke, forcing Brenneman to submit.

Winner: Erick Silva by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 4:33 of round one. He improves to 14-2-0, 1 NC.


Mike “Quicksand” Pyle vs Josh “The Dentist” Neer

Round 1:
After an exchange of punches, Pyle took Neer down and tried to pass to mount. Pyle stood and fought off a heel hook attempt. He returned to Neer’s guard and threw left hands to the head and body. He postured up and avoided a triangle choke. Neer tried for another triangle and ate punches for his efforts. He stood up and Pyle tried for a guillotine.

Neer escaped and latched onto his leg. Pyle stumbled badly, but regained his balance and landed a knee. Neer answered back with punches to the body and a knee of his own. He continued to batter Pyle with hard punches to the body. As Neer pushed forward, Pyle dropped him face-first with a counter right hook and the fight was stopped.

Winner: Mike Pyle by KO (Punch) at 4:56 of round one. He improves to 23-8-1.


Eddie Wineland vs Scott “Young Guns” Jorgensen

Round 1:
Wineland landed two right hook counters in the first round and Jorgensen answered back with a right of his own. He clinched and Wineland defended with an uppercut. He broke away from the clinch and the fighters exchanged jabs. Wineland landed a leg kick and more jabs, followed by a right cross. Jorgensen kicked at Wineland’s lead leg and landed a stiff jab seconds later.

Punches were exchanged and Wineland dropped Jorgensen with a jab. He swarmed with punches and Jorgensen recovered. Wineland took him down and punched from the top. Jorgensen stood and ate another combination. The fighters continued to trade jabs and Wineland ducked under most of Jorgensen’s punches. He put together a combination in the final 20 seconds. 10-9 Wineland.

Round 2:
Jorgensen briefly tripped Wineland to the mat in round two, but Wineland got back to his feet and the fighters traded punches and leg kicks. Wineland began to bleed from near his left eye, but he countered Jorgensen’s punches nicely with counter combinations. Jorgensen shot in for a takedown and Wineland reversed it. The fighters stood and Jorgensen landed jabs.

Wineland threw lead left hooks and Jorgensen replied with right hands. The pace remained high as both fighters continued to throw punches in combinations. Wineland flurried in close and Jorgensen landed leg kicks. Wineland stuffed a takedown and landed a right hook. Wineland floored Jorgensen with a massive right hand. He dove in with punches on the ground and the fight was stopped.

Winner: Eddie Wineland by KO (Punches) at 4:10 of round two. He improves to 19-8-1.


Undercard Fights:

Mike Pierce defeated Carlos Eduardo “Ta Danado” Rocha by Split Decision (30-27, 30-27, 27-30) after three rounds. He improves to 14-5-0 with the win.

Seth “The Polish Pistola” Baczynski defeated Lance Benoist by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 27-30) after three rounds. He improves to 17-8-0 with the win.

Matt “The Real One” Grice defeated Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 15-4-0 with the win.

Dustin “The Disciple” Pague defeated Jared “The Jackhammer” Papazian by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 3:21 of round one. He improves to 11-5-0 with the win.

Tim “The Dirty Bird” Means defeated Justin “J-Bomb” Salas by TKO (Punches) at 1:06 of round one. He improves to 18-3-1 with the win.
