Johnson-Brenneman, Wiman-Danzig 2 Set For UFC Live 6The Ultimate Fighting Championship has added a new event for October to accommodate its recent fight announcements and two bouts have been verbally agreed to for the card. UFC Live 6 will feature a welterweight bout between Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and Charlie “Spaniard” Brenneman.

Also announced for the new event was a lightweight rematch between Matt Wiman and Mac Danzig. The pair’s first meeting ended in controversy when referee Yves Lavigne prematurely stopped the contest while Danzig was stuck in a guillotine choke. He now has a chance to avenge the loss.

Johnson (9-3-0) has fought just one time in over a year and a half, but brings a big win over Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy into his bout with surging contender Brenneman (14-2-0), who upset Rick “The Horror” Story last month. Johnson is one of the largest welterweights in the sport and has won six times by knockout, but he faces a standout wrestler in Brenneman who has won nine of his last ten fights and carries tremendous momentum into the October clash. A win could place the victor on a short list of title contenders at 170 pounds.

Wiman (13-6-0) and Danzig (20-8-1) first faced off at UFC 115 last June. Wiman trapped Danzig in a guillotine choke, and as Danzig worked to free himself, referee Yves Lavigne mistakenly believed that he was unconscious and stopped the fight. Since then, Wiman is 1-1 in UFC decisions, but is coming off of a contentious loss to Dennis Siver earlier this month. Danzig rebounded with a one-punch knockout victory over Joe “Daddy” Stevenson at UFC 124. The October rematch will settle the score after the controversy of the first fight.

While a date and location have not been announced for UFC Live 6, reports that the event will likely take place on October 1st in or near Washington, D.C. Additional matchups are expected to be added to the card in the coming days and weeks.
