Nik Lentz-Charles Oliveira Bout Ruled No Contest Due To Illegal KneeSunday’s controversial bout between lightweights Nik “The Carny” Lentz and Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira has now been officially ruled a No Contest due to Oliveira’s illegal knee strike in the second round. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission confirmed the change today after deliberations.

The spirited Fight of the Night matchup between Lentz and Oliveira originally ended in a submission win for Oliveira, but controversy immediately arose due to an illegal knee – undetected by referee Chip Snider – shortly before Oliveira secured a rear-naked choke on a bloodied Lentz for the victory.

Lentz (21-3-2, 1 NC) now remains unbeaten in well over four years as a result of the overturning of his controversial Sunday defeat. Oliveira (14-1-0, 1 NC), meanwhile, is winless in two bouts after suffering his first loss in December. The 155-pound standouts engaged in a spirited battle for six minutes this past weekend at UFC Live 4 before Oliveira landed a blatantly illegal knee to the downed Lentz and finished him with the choke soon after. Lentz reportedly suffered orbital bone damage from the strike and will likely be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
