Emi Fujino To Face Rosi Sexton At CWFC 37New Mexico native Angela Magana has withdrawn from her upcoming 115-pound fight with U.K. standout Rosi Sexton at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 37: “Right To Fight” in Birmingham, England. In her place, Japanese contender Emi Fujino will step in to challenge Sexton on the card.

Magana hopes to return to competition in the coming weeks and may take part in the filming of the revived Ultimate Women’s Challenge reality show. In the meantime, Fujino and Sexton will square off at the May 22nd CWFC event, which is the promotion’s first fight card since January 2009.

Fujino (8-4-0) began her career with eight straight victories including wins over Mai Ichii and current Valkyrie Featherweight (115-Pound) Champion Mei “V Hajime” Yamaguchi. However, she has dropped four fights in a row including an April 2009 rematch with Yamaguchi. An upset victory over Sexton would be a huge step back towards the top contender status that Fujino previously enjoyed, but she will face a tough test when she squares off with the top-ranked 125-pound female fighter in the world.

Sexton (10-1-0) is the reigning CWFC Women’s Champion at 125 pounds and has not lost since a 2006 meeting with a much larger Gina “Conviction” Carano. With wins over other divisional stars such as Carina “Beauty But The Beast” Damm and Debi “Whiplash” Purcell, Sexton sits atop the ranks, but now has eyes on the 115-pound division and a spot in the rumoured Bellator women’s tournament later this year. She will first have to get past Fujino, who has never been finished in her career.

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 37: “Right To Fight” takes place on May 22nd at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England. The card features numerous title fights and also includes a second women’s bout between Sarah Moras and Helena Martin.
