Catia Vitoria Steps In To Challenge Elena ReidOn just two days’ notice, Muay Thai fighter Catia “Cat Woman” Vitoria will compete in mixed martial arts for the second time when she steps in to face Elena “Babydoll” Reid this Saturday. Vitoria, who made her pro debut earlier this month, will challenge for Reid’s SNMMA title.

The fight will headline Playboy Fight Night: “World Tour 2010” at the 4 Bears Casino and Lodge in New Town, North Dakota. Vitoria enters the fight on extremely short notice after Reid’s original opponent, Alyx “Miss” Luck, was suspended for falsifying pre-fight bloodwork.

Reid (4-0-0 MMA; 19-5-6 Boxing) will hold a significant edge in experience when she defends her Sovereign Nations MMA Women’s Flyweight Championship on Saturday. The former WIBA and IFBA boxing champion has yet to lose since making her mixed martial arts debut in late 2007. Still active in boxing, Reid will look to add another title to her collection in June, but must first defend her SNMMA belt against Vitoria. Reid captured the title – her first in MMA – last October with a third-round stoppage of Japanese veteran Masako Yoshida.

Vitoria (1-0-0 MMA; 2-0-0 Muay Thai) has had a mere fraction of the fights that Reid has, but already holds big victories over current MMA standouts Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson and FCF champ Lynn Alvarez in 2008 Muay Thai bouts. She had been set to make her mixed martial arts debut against Felice Herrig later today at Bellator Fighting Championships 14, but that fight was scrapped last month. Vitoria instead faced Tiffany Connell on April 3rd at Art of Fighting 7 and picked up a Majority Decision victory. A win over Reid would be huge for the rising star from Ontario.
