Mio Tsumura vs Akari Nakamura 4 Set For Shoot Boxing World S-CupTwo-time Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup winner Mio Tsumura faces a familiar foe in her most high-profile fight to date on November 11th at the 2016 Shoot Boxing World S-Cup in Tokyo, Japan. Tsumura battles rival Akari “Union” Nakamura for the Shoot Boxing Women’s Minimumweight Championship.

Shoot Boxing officials announced the inaugural 48kg title fight earlier today. Tsumura has defeated Nakamura on three occasions in the past, with the most recent victory coming via a razor-thin extra-round Majority Decision in the finals of this year’s Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup tournament in July.

Tsumura (25-2-0 SB) has developed into one of Shoot Boxing’s most popular and accomplished female competitors during the past two years, which have seen her follow up on JKS48 tournament titles by becoming a two-time Girls S-Cup champion. In July, she defeated Yurika Jimbo and Nakamura in one night to claim her second Girls S-Cup title. She has since earned two more wins, including a decision victory earlier this month, and continues to improve upon her skills while training in Tokyo alongside long-time teammate and mentor, Rena Kubota.

Nakamura (17-11-1 SB/KB) came up just short in her trilogy fight with Tsumura in July, but the veteran contender rebounded in a big way by capturing a 51kg Muay Thai title for WMCI-1 Asia this past month in China. Shoot boxing has been Nakamura’s primary focus during recent years, however, and she now has a chance to erase one of her past defeats against Tsumura by capturing the newly-created 48kg championship. The southpaw’s ability to mix up punching flurries and body kicks caused Tsumura some problems in July, and Nakamura will look to repeat that success next month.

The 2016 Shoot Boxing World S-Cup takes place on November 11th at TDC Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
