Valérie Létourneau Faces Poliana Botelho At UFC 206 In TorontoFormer strawweight title challenger Valérie “Trouble” Létourneau looks to return to championship contention when she competes in her home country on December 10th at UFC 206 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Létourneau is set to face former XFC champ Poliana Botelho, who makes her UFC debut.

UFC officials announced the strawweight matchup today. Létourneau drops back down to 115 pounds after suffering a third-round TKO loss to Joanne “JoJo” Calderwood in a one-off flyweight bout at UFC Fight Night 89 in June. Botelho has finished three straight foes, and last fought in September 2015.

Létourneau (8-5-0) is the only woman to date who has competed in three different UFC weight classes. She began her UFC career with a short-notice decision win over Elizabeth Phillips in bantamweight action at UFC 174, then dropped all the way down to strawweight this past year and earned a title shot by defeating Jessica “The Ragin'” Rakoczy and Maryna “The Iron Woman” Moroz in succession. Létourneau’s title bid ended in a competitive decision loss to champion Joanna JÄ™drzejczyk, and she most recently engaged in the UFC’s first female flyweight fight against Calderwood.

Botelho (5-1-0) is one of Brazil’s top female prospects, and she cracked the flyweight top ten this past year after capturing XFC title gold. Following her lone career defeat, against unbeaten Brazilian standout Viviane “Sucuri” Pereira, Botelho racked up three straight stoppages that culminated with a fourth-round TKO win over the previously unbeaten Silvana “La Malvada” Gomez Suarez in a flyweight championship bout at XFC International 11. With XFC ceasing operations earlier this year, Botelho has not fought since her title victory, and she faces a tough test in her Octagon debut.

UFC 206 takes place on December 10th at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
