Joanne Calderwood vs Jéssica Andrade Booked For UFC 203 In OhioFresh off of impressive stoppage victories this past month, Joanne “JoJo” Calderwood and Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade are set to collide in a featured matchup on September 10th at UFC 203: “Miocic vs Overeem” in Cleveland, Ohio. UFC officials announced the strawweight bout today.

Calderwood secured her second straight UFC victory in a one-off flyweight bout on June 18th when she finished Valérie “Trouble” Létourneau at UFC Fight Night 89. Andrade made a successful strawweight debut on June 4th when she destroyed former Invicta FC champ Jessica Penne at UFC 199.

Calderwood (11-1-0) is regarded as one of MMA’s premier female strikers, and her elite kickboxing skills were on full display in her thrilling victory over Létourneau in Ontario. She wore Létourneau down with a varied arsenal of strikes throughout the fight and ultimately finished the bout with a third-round kick to the body. Having won back-to-back fights since suffering her lone career setback at UFC Fight Night 64, Calderwood has her sights set on fighting her way into UFC women’s strawweight title contention.

Andrade (14-5-0) began her UFC career as a bantamweight in July 2013 and went 4-3 against some of the promotion’s top female prospects and contenders. She recently opted to make the move down to strawweight following a submission loss to Raquel “Rocky” Pennington in a rematch at UFC 191 in September, and Andrade immediately announced herself as a future star at 115 pounds with her dominant win over Penne this past month. Andrade mauled the former Invicta FC titleholder on the feet until the bout was finally stopped in the second round.

UFC 203: “Miocic vs Overeem” takes place on September 10th at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The event is headlined by a UFC Heavyweight Championship bout between Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem, and also features a women’s bantamweight bout between Jessica “Evil” Eye and Bethe “Pitbull” Correia.
