Jessica Eye vs Bethe Correia Targeted For UFC 203 In OhioHometown fan favourite Jessica “Evil” Eye faces a must-win situation when she competes in front of a partisan crowd on September 10th at UFC 203: “Miocic vs Overeem” in Cleveland, Ohio. Eye is expected to face off against Bethe “Pitbull” Correia in a bantamweight showdown on the card.

Globo.com first reported on plans for the matchup earlier this month. Eye has dropped three straight fights inside the Octagon including a decision loss to Sara McMann this past month. Former UFC title challenger Correia also seeks redemption after suffering her second consecutive defeat in April.

Eye (11-5-0, 1 ND) has struggled since moving up to the bantamweight division in 2013. Her UFC debut initially ended in a big victory over former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman, but the result was later overturned when Eye tested positive for marijuana metabolites. Since then, Eye has tasted defeat in four of her five UFC fights, with the lone victory coming against Leslie “The Peacemaker” Smith in late 2014. The normally aggressive Eye was uncharacteristically passive in a lacklustre decision loss to one-time training partner McMann at UFC Fight Night 88.

Correia (9-2-0) brought an unblemished record into her Octagon debut in December 2013 and earned a shot at the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship by winning three straight fights for the UFC. Her title bid ended in a quick and disappointing loss to then-champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey at UFC 190, and Correia’s hopes of getting back into the championship hunt were recently dashed when she was narrowly outpointed by Raquel “Rocky” Pennington at UFC on FOX 19. She now hopes to spoil Eye’s return to Cleveland with a much-needed victory in September.

UFC 203: “Miocic vs Overeem” takes place on September 10th at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The event is headlined by a UFC Heavyweight Championship bout between Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem.
