Seo Hee Ham vs Cortney Casey Added To UFC Fight Night 79Former Deep Jewels Featherweight Queen Champion Seo Hee Ham is set to make her return to the Octagon on November 28th at UFC Fight Night 79: “Henderson vs Alves” in Seoul, South Korea. The standout striker battles Cortney “Cast Iron” Casey in a featured strawweight matchup on the card.

UFC officials announced the fight today. Ham was set to face “Rowdy” Bec Rawlings at UFC Fight Night 65 in May, but was forced to withdraw after suffering a nasal fracture. Casey stepped in for an injured Rawlings at UFC Fight Night 72 and dropped a close decision to Joanne “JoJo” Calderwood.

Ham (15-6-0) vacated her Deep Jewels 106-pound title in November 2014 and moved back up to the strawweight division for her UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale. Her six-fight winning streak was snapped by Calderwood, who took a Unanimous Decision victory and handed Ham only her second loss in the past five years. Ham had planned to get back into action in May, but a nasal fracture in training led to a severe case of asthma and she was unable to resume training until mid-summer. Now fully recovered, she competes in her home country in November and seeks her first UFC win.

Casey (4-2-0) also dropped her UFC debut to Calderwood, but she put forth an excellent showing in defeat. Stepping in on just ten days’ notice, Casey had Calderwood in all sorts of trouble after rocking her with punches in the opening seconds. Calderwood ultimately rallied back as the fight progressed, and earned a Unanimous Decision victory in the process, but Casey”s performance endeared her to UFC fans. All four of her professional victories have ended inside the first round and she is one of the most aggressive fighters in the women’s strawweight division.

UFC Fight Night 79: “Henderson vs Alves” takes place on November 28th at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea. The event is headlined by a welterweight bout between “Smooth” Benson Henderson and Thiago “Pitbull” Alves.
