Marloes Coenen vs Arlene Blencowe Targeted For Bellator 141Former Strikeforce champion Marloes “Rumina” Coenen makes her return to the cage on August 28th at Bellator 141 in Temecula, California. Coenen is expected to face off against Australian standout Arlene “Angerfist” Blencowe in a featured featherweight matchup on the event’s televised main card.

Combat Press first reported on the planned bout on Friday. Coenen made a successful Bellator debut in October when she submitted Annalisa “No Fear” Bucci at Bellator 130. Blencowe also kicked off her Bellator career with a win when she stopped Adrienna “A.J.” Jenkins at Bellator 137 in May.

Coenen (22-6-0) is one of the most experienced female fighters in MMA today, and her storied career dates back close to 15 years. In recent times, Coenen became the first member of the Invicta FC roster in 2012 and she was victorious in the main event of the promotion’s inaugural card. Her bid to become the first Invicta FC Featherweight Champion ended in a one-sided TKO loss to rival Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, but Coenen’s contract subsequently expired and she signed with Bellator in hopes of finding a fresh start. She put forth a solid showing against Bucci in her October debut.

Blencowe (6-4-0) struggled early in her career against formidable opposition, but she has since racked up four straight victories and avenged a loss to current Invicta FC contender Faith “The Immortal” Van Duin by stopping Van Duin with a knee to the body in their August 2014 rematch. The big victory put Blencowe on the Bellator radar and the promotion signed her earlier this year. On May 15th, she made her official Bellator debut and finished Jenkins with first-round punches in an unaired preliminary bout at Bellator 137. She now takes a big step up to battle Coenen next month.

Bellator 141 takes place on August 28th at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California.
