Juliana Lima vs Ericka Almeida Targeted For UFC Fight Night 67Juliana “Ju Thai” de Lima Carneiro has received a new opponent for her upcoming strawweight bout on May 30th at UFC Fight Night 67: “Condit vs Alves” in Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil. Lima, who was originally scheduled to face Jessica Penne, now meets Jungle Fight champion Ericka Almeida.

Globo first reported on the targeted bout on Tuesday. Lima most recently picked up her first Octagon victory when she defeated Nina “The Strina” Ansaroff at UFC Fight Night 56. The undefeated Almeida has torn through the competition in Brazil and now makes her much-anticipated UFC debut.

Lima (7-2-0) opened her career with five straight wins before dropping a decision to former Invicta FC champion Katja “Killer Bunny” Kankaanpää in her lone bout for the promotion at Invicta FC 5. She bounced back with a quick win in Brazil before signing with the UFC this past year. In her Octagon debut, Lima suffered a competitive decision loss to current UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk, but she notched her first UFC win by outpointing Ansaroff. Lima had expected to face Penne later this month, but instead welcomes Almeida to the Octagon.

Almeida (7-0-0), the reigning Jungle Fight Women’s Strawweight Champion, is one of the most skilled grapplers in the 115-pound women’s division. She has finished all seven of her opponents, including six by submission, with only a September 2014 Jungle Fight title bout making it out of the first round. In her most recent fight, Almeida retained her belt by submitting short-notice replacement Jennifer Gonzalez with a first-round triangle choke. Almeida signed with Invicta FC two years ago, but much like current UFC champion Jędrzejczyk, was never booked to fight for the promotion and now heads to the UFC.

UFC Fight Night 67: “Condit vs Alves” takes place on May 30th at Goiânia Arena in Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil. The event is headlined by a welterweight bout between “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit and Thiago “Pitbull” Alves.
