Fujino vs Song, Kim vs Ozyurt Announced For Road FC 23 On May 2Two women’s bouts have been announced for the upcoming Road Fighting Championship 23 card on May 2nd in Seoul, South Korea. In strawweight action, Japanese standout Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino makes her Road FC debut when she takes on local fan favourite Hyo Kyung Song.

In addition to the Fujino-Song matchup, Road FC officials also confirmed plans for a second women’s bout this week. Unbeaten rising star Ji Yeon Kim, who is already set to compete at Deep Jewels 8 on May 31st, battles Hatice “The Turkish Delight” Ozyurt at a 63kg catchweight at Road FC 23.

Fujino (13-8-0) rebounded from back-to-back decision defeats against current Deep Jewels champion Mizuki Inoue and WSOF titleholder Jessica “Jag” Aguilar with two victories in two months this past year. She first bested Ayaka Miura at Deep Jewels 6, then outpointed former Deep Jewels interim champion Emi Tomimatsu at Deep: “Dream Impact 2014.” Song (1-5-0) suffered defeats in each of her first four fights in Japan, but notched her first win in her Road FC debut this past July. She is coming off of a competitive Split Decision loss to Tomimatsu at Road FC 19.

Kim (2-0-2) is one of the fastest rising female prospects in South Korea today. After fighting to Draws with top Japanese stars Shizuka Sugiyama and Takayo Hashi, Kim has finished both of her opponents since then. She most recently captured the Gladiator Women’s Bantamweight Championship with a second-round TKO win on March 1st. Ozyurt (1-2-0) made a successful pro debut in late 2011, but she has been inactive in MMA since suffering a 34-second submission loss to Megan van Houtum in October 2012. She looks to pick up a big win by upsetting Kim next month.

Road Fighting Championship 23 is set for May 2nd at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea.
