Rena Kubota Set To Face Isis Verbeek On November 30 In TokyoFour-time Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup Champion Rena Kubota is set to face one of her toughest opponents to date on November 30th at the 2014 Shoot Boxing World S-Cup in Tokyo, Japan. Kubota meets 19-year-old WPKL Women’s Flyweight Champion Isis “Fight Queen” Verbeek in a 50kg bout.

Kubota most recently won three fights in one night to claim her fourth Girls S-Cup title on August 2nd. She is currently riding a 12-fight winning streak and is one of the top female strikers in Japan. Verbeek has won 40 of her 45 kickboxing matches and now makes her shoot boxing debut on the card.

Kubota (28-5-1 SB/KB) has been one of shoot boxing’s biggest stars since she won the inaugural Girls S-Cup tournament in 2009. The popular and talented fighter has won each of the three Girls S-Cups that she has entered since then and put forth one of the most impressive performances of her career in her most recent tournament victory. In August, she defeated Simone van Dommelen, Christina Jurjevic and Thicha Rongrien Kila Korat in succession to become the first four-time winner of the Girls S-Cup.

Verbeek (40-4-1 KB) has torn through the competition in Europe during her kickboxing career and she is now one of the sport’s brightest prospects. Fighting out of the renowned Vos Gym in The Netherlands, Verbeek has used her elite striking skills to excel in kickboxing and she now takes on a new challenge against shoot boxing’s top female star. While she will have to adapt to shoot boxing’s unique rules, which award points for high-arc throws and standing submissions in addition to striking dominance, Verbeek is confident that she will upset Kubota when the two face off later this month.

The 2014 Shoot Boxing World S-Cup takes place on November 30th at Ryƍgoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan. Kubota and Verbeek are set to compete in a non-title bout on the card.
