Mio Tsumura vs Hana Date, Mina vs Nori Date Set For September 20Two-time Shoot Boxing JKS48 tournament champion Mio Tsumura looks to rebound from only the second defeat of her career when she returns to the ring this Saturday night at Shoot Boxing 2014: Act.4 in Tokyo, Japan. Tsumura is set to face off against Tribelate champ Hana Date on the card.

Tsumura most recently fought her way to the finals of the inaugural Shoot Boxing Japan 48kg Girls S-Cup in August, where she was defeated by Yukari Yamaguchi. Also on Saturday’s Shoot Boxing card, promotional postergirl Mina takes on Hana’s teammate, Nori Date, in a 58kg bout.

Tsumura (13-2-0 SB) has followed in the footsteps of her teammate and mentor, four-time Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup Champion Rena Kubota, and has become one of Shoot Boxing’s biggest stars during the past three years. The skilled striker won the Shoot Boxing JKS48 high school girls’ tournaments in both 2012 and 2013, and came within one victory of becoming a three-time Shoot Boxing champion before falling to Yamaguchi this past month. Her opponent on Saturday, Hana, makes her shoot boxing debut after recently capturing a 48kg kickboxing title at Tribelate vol.44 in August.

Mina (6-4-0 SB) has struggled to find fights in recent years due to last-minute injuries and a lack of available opponents, but she remains one of the more popular fighters on the Shoot Boxing roster. Her most notable victories both came in 2011 when she defeated MMA standouts “V.V” Mei Yamaguchi and Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino. She returns to action on Saturday to face Nori, who kicked off her pro kickboxing career with back-to-back wins and now looks to get herself back on track following a pair of razor-thin decision defeats for J-Girls and Tribelate.

Shoot Boxing 2014: Act.4 takes place on Saturday, September 20th, at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
