2014 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup Quarterfinal Matchups SetAll four quarterfinal matchups have now been announced for the 2014 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup world tournament, which takes place on Saturday night at Yamano Hall in the Yoyogi district of Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Seven different countries will be represented in this year’s prestigious tournament.

Also confirmed for Saturday’s card is a non-tournament bout between former Shoot Boxing Japan Women’s Flyweight Champion Ai Takahashi and experienced Muay Thai champ Nong Em Tor. Vitaya. Takahashi and Tor. Vitaya will face off in a featured three-round bout on the event’s main card.

In the first of four quarterfinal fights, three-time Girls S-Cup winner Rena Kubota (25-5-1 SB/KB) takes on Dutch kickboxing champion Simone van Dommelen (15-0-0 KB). Kubota, who has won all three Girls S-Cups that she has entered, is seen by many as a heavy favourite to win her fourth tournament title on Saturday, but van Dommelen aims to keep her undefeated record intact by upsetting the Japanese star en route to a spot in the semi-finals.

The second quarterfinal bout pits Australian kickboxer Christina Jurjevic (0-2-0 SB) against Taiwanese boxing gold medallist Kai-Ting “Kill Bee” Zhuang (0-0-0 SB). Quarterfinal number three sees Brazil’s Eduarda “Duda” Lima (15-3-0 amateur KB) make her shoot boxing debut against Muay Thai champion Thicha Rongrien Kila Korat (0-0-0 SB) from Thailand. Rounding out the quarterfinals, Dutch standout Lorena “Lady Pitbull” Klijn (3-2-0 SB) returns to shoot boxing action and faces J-Girls Korea champion Jiwaen Lee (16-1-0 KB) from South Korea.

2014 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup Quarterfinals

The bout between Takahashi (20-5-0 SB/KB) and Tor. Vitaya (26-5-3 KB) will put Takahashi’s striking skills to the test. While Takahashi will hold an advantage in shoot boxing experience, where points are awarded for high-arc throws and standing submission attempts, Tor. Vitaya is an accomplished Muay Thai champion with excellent combinations and knees that could pose problems for the Japanese star.
